[LOGGED] Text Draw actor: Simple Markup Language Interpreter
-
Hi,
I worked a lot with large amount of text in several past projects, used for kind of live sur- or subtitling on stages. 'Till now I managed to handle these text with an extended use of the data array actor and the several text manipulation actors. This way I build some kind of interpreter with information about the style and line breaks to handle.
But I missed some special feature though, which comes up now with the new CC actors freshly made by Mark.
As the Text draw actor only handles text styles like 'font', 'bold', 'italic', 'color' for the whole sentence at once, it is actual nearly impossible to do separately put a single word or parts of the sentence to a different style as the rest. Which ends in using pictures again. This way I had to handled nearly 2000 pics with text, managed and exported by indesigner.
E.g. imagine a surtitle with parts showing general story line, but embedding a part of direct speech in italic or bold.
It would be great to have the possibility to use some simple markup language to interpret the text in a .txt, like HTML.The guys from millumin have build a free to use surtitle app 'glypheo' which can import html and even doc files and interpret them accordingly. Which is the other possibility as it is prossible to remotely trigger it by OSC. But this is limited to go forward/backward and doesnt include any interactivity.

Yes, I can see that this is something that would be useful. We have taken note of your feature request.
Best Wishes,
