[ANSWERED] OpenNI Tracker Question
-
Hi everyone,
After a very long hiatus mostly due to covid & remote teaching, I finally got back to using isadora with my high school students.
We've used isadora it to create videopoetry in the past. I'm delighted to discover that with Isadora 3, I can connect my kinect v2 directly to my macbook. The last time I did this with students, I had the kinect connected to a windows laptop, which sent the skeleton data to isadora on my mac via KinectV2-OSC and the video feed via spout/syphoner. It worked but it was a pain in the neck to setup and teardown daily in a high school classroom.
So now I am playing around with the the OpenNi Tracker plugin on my macbook. It is fantastic. I've watched the video tutorial and I have the body tracking working fine. However, I am confused about how to isolate the full color video of the person (without the background of the room/furniture). I know that it was something that I used to be able to do with my old set up, but I can't remember the steps and I no longer have my windows laptop. I've managed to sort of make it work by using the Luminance key actor, but the problem is that the depth video and the color video seem slightly offset. So the body tracking is slightly to left and down from the video of the person, which means a small part of the person gets cut off (the top of the head and right edge of the body) and a small part of the room shows up. I suspect the answer is obvious to more experience Isadora users, but I can't figure it out and rather than continuing to beat my head agains the wall, I thought that I'd ask here.
This is my set up. I am trying to isolate the video of the student so we see their full body without the rest of the classroom/desks/whiteboard being seen in the background. Again, it looks great except somehow a sliver of the student gets cutoff on the right-top and a sliver of the classroom shows on the left-bottom. Any advice would be appreciated.
thanks Kirsten

there's an input called Color Depth Sync. turning this on will sync up the color image and the depth image better

You can also do it with these settings

Thank you John and Woland,
John's idea seemed to do the trick. The images are basically in sync now. There is a little white edge around the body, but we can absolutely live with it. Woland, I may be missing something, but your suggestion seems to give me a red colorized body against a black background. That only works for some of the students' poems. I was trying to isolate the regular video feed because some of the kids want to to see themselves (not just their colorized bodies) in their poems.
Thanks,
Kirsten
