      Hi everyone,

I am on the most up to date version of isadora, running (what I believe to be) the most up to date version of the OpenNI Tracker Plug in. I am trying to use a Kinect V2 for both motion tracking and colour video for a "live keying" effect, however as soon as I change the capture mode to "colour" or "both" on the actor the Kinect loses its connection (the stage output goes black and all the lights on the kinect go out) followed by a crash 30 seconds - 2 minutes later. I have tried this on 2 different intel macs (2017 MBP and 2013 trash can model) and have had the same results on both.

-I have read all the documentation and have pasted the masquerade txt file in my plug in folder
-I am using plug in vers. 0.9.8b6, however in the included txt file it says Kinect v2 is new to 0.9.9.. but I can't find that version anywhere online.
-I am using an amazon adapter found here:https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08B3... It does specify on the page that it's a windows accessory so perhaps this is where the problem lies, however, I have yet to find something that explicitly says mac compatible. Has anyone else on a mac had success with Kinect V2?

      Any help much appreciated. TIA.

         Hi,

I have come across the same behaviour using a 2013 Mac Pro running Mojave 10.14.6, Isadora 3.2.2, Open Ni v0.9.8b6.

I did manage to get the two video streams running concurrently, however the depth stream will suddenly stop after a minute or two and freeze the OpenNi Tracker requiring a Force Quit.

EDIT: After upgrading the (late 2013) MacPro to Monterey 12.4, Open Ni v0.9.8b6  the problem persists but is less severe i.e. the dual video stream appears to be stable for longer periods before dropping out.

Here is a screen shot indicating how I got the two video streams operating simultaneously after relaunching - perhaps you will have more luck with maintaining the camera feeds than I have running Mojave:

Hi, I don’t have a workable solution for your troubles with the Kinect v2, only to confirm the issue. The next step is to log a ticket to raise the issue with the Isadora tech team: https://support.troikatronix.com/support/tickets/new

          Best wishes

I have just started a test on a M1 mac mini running Monterey. Both video streams are running with watchers tracking any dropouts. I will report back my findings after a couple of hours.

            UPDATE:
my test has been running 5 hours now, and I have not seen any video drop. Every time I walk into view, body tracking activates and I can see the colour and bnW video output to the stage preview.

              Hi,

Thanks you for looking into that on an M1. I have also had success maintaining a connection on the intel 2013 Mac Pro. It appears that if a skeleton tracking subject is not established and maintained the Kinect V2 camera times itself out - when it does this it takes down the OpenNi Tracker and ultimately the Isadora application. This is my assumption as without the skeleton tracking operating the camera appears to stop functioning from start-up.
