I miss the guru sessions. Covid had also some good sides to it))

Maybe we can start a thread of ideas for future guru sessions

      I start with some here:

Isadora and art in the 80s vs. 90s vs. 00s vs. 10s vs. 20s

Going in depth with some more tricky actors: 3D particles, ropes etc.

Just jamming and see what comes: seeing someone else’s creative muscle tweaking knobs, triggers own creative muscle

i also miss the guru sessions. They were excellent (and still are, in their archived form) for opening up new ideas and possibilities for newbies like me. I think they were pretty hard work for Mark a.o., though, and maybe only possible because of the time made available in the lock-down..?

However if we are compiling a 'dream list' to tempt the guru to return...mine would be a really in-depth session on Sound in/out of Isadora.

          Hi there all!

We hear you the Guru sessions were something that a lot of people loved! Feel free to post some future ideas here, no promises though that we will produce any more of that video series in the near future.

Keep an eye on our socials / the forum for any announcement regarding new video content.

What great ideas for sessions! I thought the guru sessions were very much about coming together as a community sharing in real time through the network space. We have to applaud and celebrate the commitment of @Mark, his partner @enibee, and the band of Isadora tech staff for providing that at a time of global crisis.

There are really fun and creative approaches to using Isadora and these are perhaps best suited to the live stream format. There are already existing and well documented foundation tutorials and of course the archived guru sessions. The gaps for me, in terms of tutorials and alternative descriptive resources, are the more complex and multi-faceted approaches. These are workflows that take a lot of trial and error to master and are currently not well documented.

a: compositing complex and flexible scenes using virtual stages and layers

b: multi-channel audio IO routing and DAW interface including interactive audio frequency analysis

c: optimising and preparing 3D assets for use in Isadora’s workflow

d: parsing data objects into Isadora from complex sources, for example data embedded in URL code

e: best practice approaches for working with the Data Array for capturing, storing and retrieving dynamic data streams

These are perhaps not light weight topics that would be of interest to everyone but would be an asset for those practitioners advancing into more complex design territory.

            Best wishes

            Russell

Are there any plans about a physical gathering/ Werkstatt in Berlin in 2023?

                  Hi there Tom,

Let's stick with the topic at hand here (Ideas for Guru sessions). To my knowledge we haven't set anything in stone yet for our physical gatherings. The world is opening up again after the Covid pandemic, so yes we would love to welcome you all in Berlin and drink a beer with you guys.

If we have any news about the subject we will share it on our socials / newsletter / the forum like always. And of course we wont do that an month in advance :)

Another type of Guru session that could be interesting is a short 'bite' style video that goes in-depth on a specific Actor that may have wider application than low-level users like me are aware.

There are already good instances of this in the existing Troika online material, but short clips could allow a sharper focus, and be really useful to watch while going through the manual, which could even include links...

Hmmm, I have to say we might even be able to do an 'Show and tell' with short clips on Instagram for this. Love this idea / will send it over to the team :)
