Animation studio in the forest
-
Hello everybody,
I'm currently sat in a tiny cabin in the forest by the sea that I have converted into a temporary art space. For two weeks it is host to an exhibition of video and photography, a research residency for two dance artists, crafting with natural materials, electronic sound workshops and I have set up an animation table using Isadora.
Various visitors to the art space have been trying out animation with natural materials and wooden beads and this is what we have produced today.
Basically the patch takes a photo and saves it to the media bin, and a picture player scrolls through the bin using a counter. There's a slight glitchiness though - you can see some black flashes that shouldn't be there. They seem to happen at random times. Any ideas how i can reduce this? -
Hi,
That sounds idealic!Black frame might be a dropped frame somehow. What method are you using to name each image? Here is a stop motion tool made with Isadora that might be of interest...
best wishes

Please please please put this on the Add-Ons Page if you haven't already. This is amazing!
Best wishes,

yeah - i'm thinking it might be a dropped frame issue - potentially connected to read speed from the hard drive. the files are named in the same way that yours are: text prefix and consecutive integer. (but, strangely, some of them get numbered with a sequence of 3 integers, dot, another 3 integers)
i was hoping to get time tomorrow to experiment with re-patching it so that it uses 2 Picture Players and alternating between them, and see if that fixes the dropped frames. -
