Is it possible to project a video on to a sphere with Isadora?
Currently I am for a company who specialises in building museums, science centers, etc. They want to project a video on to a sphere or a globe using external and multiple projectors.
Is it possible to do this setup with Isadora. Is it capable of mapping multiple projectors and apply effects for projecting on to a sphere? We are interested in your software and learn that what we want is achievable.
Hi there Emre!
Welcome to the Isadora community forum, glad to have you here.
Isadora doesn't offer any native functions that are specifically intended to streamline the process of projecting onto a sphere. We do however have the tool called "IzzyMap" and the Stage Setup (Edge blend tool) that will allow you to get quite far with what you are trying to accomplish.
If you don't have access to programs like Vectorworks or CAD to pre-visualize the throws of the projectors (based on the make, model, and lenses) onto the sphere you will however have a lot of trial and error to do to figure out where the projectors need to be hung / etc.
It seems that you are just starting with Isadora. So I would suggest the following;
- Isadora is paid software, but we offer a demo mode that allows you use to use all the features of the program. The only limitation that we have is that you can't save without a license, you can however rent a license for as little as $10/week.
- Watch the Guru session that Mark (Creator of Isadora / Media artist) did on the subject of Projection mapping
- Ask the community! If you ever become stuck or need a hand post a topic on our forum and members of the community will give you a hand.
- You can also send us a Technical support ticket ;)
