      Hi.

I was going through the Guru sessions that was my start of using Isadora. On Guru 5, the 3D session it was mentioned that soon Isadora would have the option of using .obj files and not just limited to .3ds.

I am a windows user and have recently found many new opensource and free 3D tools, but none that use .3ds, all use .obj. This is a frustration as the availability of these new tools, many with interesting AI options are closed currently due to the current 3D file limitations.

Is there a forthcoming solution here as this would open lots of 'new' possibilities.

      Best regards.

        Hey!
I know that we said in the Guro session that it is on our radar and I believe it still is. We don't have any plans sadly to resolve this matter in the next few months. I told the team that you have this wish in our internal company channels.

I know that @bonemap has done quite a lot with 3D objects in Isadora, maybe he can offer you some workarounds or workflows.

Hello, you ca still download the 2.79 version of Blender

          https://download.blender.org/r...

With it you can open .obj, .abc or .fbx object and export it as .3ds

Be aware of problems of axis, scale or material but, globaly it works and its free (I am not sure about M1 Macs, to be tested…)
