From v 3 to new computer with v4 in

Or is there a way of transferring images/videos withou having to tranfer all media seperatly ( over 1000 ) images in show. Then link again to project within v4

There is no Isadora 4 yet. Are you moving from Isadora 2 to Isadora 3?

There is not a way to do this currently. This is why we suggest the best practice of keeping your Isadora file for a project in the same folder as all the media you are using for that project, because then you can just zip the folder to move the project to a new computer.

I hope I am reading between the lines and that there might be a way to do that in future, as I requested in my feature request seven years ago:

It's all very well to say put all your media in the same folder, but in real life it just doesn't work like that. A recent example of a show I worked on: during the production week the animator was putting files for me in a shared Dropbox folder, and as he revised these he was simply overwriting the old version in Dropbox. Meanwhile the composer is sending me files via GoogleDrive, also overwriting old versions with new, and the script from which we were generating the captions was shared via iCloud. I can't copy and paste these from their various locations into the same folder as the Isadora file, else I won't get the updated assets. That's why a collect for output would be a great feature to have, for that moment when the show is finally finished, and needs transferring from my computer to the machine the show will tour with.

Totally agree my projects are  spread across 3 drives as added media happens on the road no time to tidy up.

Have now upgraded my comp and version and to transfer all my projects @ links to media will take many hours

I wasn't trying to imply that we're currently working on it, just that it's on our radar as a feature that is often requested and would be very useful to add. I'd really like this feature to already exist or be in active development as well, but at the moment we've got our hands full with IzzyCast. (Though as a result of requiring a few new features for IzzyCast, we've added a number of handy updates to the Control Panel.)

the animator was putting files for me in a shared Dropbox folder, and as he revised these he was simply overwriting the old version in Dropbox. You can ask your collaborators to not use three different platforms to provide you with files, e.g. create a shared Dropbox or Google Drive folder before the production and tell your collaborators that that's where the content needs to go. Additionally, putting everything in the same shared Dropbox or Google Drive folder means it's easier to port the show to a different computer since you could just download it. I've done just this for a number of productions and when I finish I desync the folder from my computer and the online folder becomes my archive for the show.
