Ableton/Isadora delay
-
My project uses Ableton for audio and Isadora for video/lighting. I've set up everything to have Ableton start the show and send a MIDI signal which prompts Isadora to move to the next scene which has the full show. It's a film projection so everything must be in sync. Everything is working fine.
However, I've noticed that the internal delay is not quite reliable. There's always a bit of delay and it seems that the delay is not always the same, which makes it hard to just compensate by having Ableton trigger Isadora earlier. Is there a way to ensure everything will stay in sync? I tried exploring the Movie Locker actor but the movie looked choppy (I don't think I really understood how to use it). Any ideas or tutorial for that? Thanks in advance.

I don't really know what delay you are seeing, but it sounds like it's probably due to the Film being preloaded for playback. This time will vary due to system resource changes.
You could trigger Isadora to Start the scene and pause Ableton (if possible), and then again trigger Ableton to continue from Isadora (once playback has begun). That might eliminate the delay, as Ableton shouldn't require any additional load time.
