Syphon stage ouput on by default?
-
@notdoc Not as far as I know but you can just add a Syphon stage output actor in every scene. Or even better activate the Syphon output box in the stage setup window.
-
@armando true. you can do those things. And I often do. That's why I'm requesting that a new stage can be set to output to Syphon by default, so the task is done once, as a preference. Am I alone in wanting this?
-
@notdoc Well, honestly I don't need it. I do it this way" it is more flexible for me personally.

Are you not setting the Syphon output in the Stage Setup window?
I just ran a quick test to confirm, and for me setting NDI and Spout (I'm curranty on Windows) in the stage setup window and saving appears to save this setting with the Isadora file.
I am getting Spout and NDI output as soon as I open files with these checked. -
thanks, yes I am. What I am requesting is that there be a preference for this option to be 'on' by default when a new stage is created. Maybe there is a use case for NDI/Blackmagic likewise, but that's not my workflow. I use Syphon a lot, and output to multiple stages to process images.

@notdoc Maybe a logical extension of this would be template patches. These exist for lots of software. You can save a base file as a template and when you make a new file it will be based on that. For example I found myself making so many patches with scenes that went black scene 1 black scene 2 etc. I made a template patch with a few actors built in and I would copy it when I wanted to use it. This would allow you to extend much further than just the syphon settings. As a feature request I think it is a bit redundant to have templates as there is more important work to get done and limited resources and this is pretty easy to manage yourself. However some software does have built in templates to help new users and that could be good for isadora.

i like that idea. It's more universally useful than my niche request. In Preferences - "Start-up action: saved template" Anyone working with repeated set-ups could use that.

@notdoc Imteresting. Maybe even FIle menu, under Open there could be Open template with a submenu with say 6 slots for 6 templates ?

This feature request already exists :)

not quite the same... but it's a useful approach.
