Creating Custom Quartz Actors

Recently I've been working on a show that's required a bit of custom Quartz Composer work. In the process I've learned a lot about working with Quartz and Isadora, and thought it might be helpful for those of you are thinking about doing the same thing. Here's the quick run down about how to create something in quartz and then use it in Isadora.

IsadoraCore and QC patches lead to very slow video processing
The optional Core Video upgrade makes all of the Mac OS X Core Image processing modules available as modules in Isadora. Because these modules do the video processing on the graphics card, they are very fast. In addition, any Quartz Composer modules installed on your system will also appear as a module in Isadora.
The Core Video plugins differ quite a bit in “style” from the normal Isadora video plugins; notably they refer to the image in pixels instead of Isadora’s normal percentages, which make them a bit more tricky to work with.

Finally I was able to modify the Rutt Etra Quartz (with the help also of @bruper quartz file). Attached the Izzy patch and the Quartz file. 1b7ca2-rutt-etra-alex.izz 3a1f34-rutt-etra-6.zip

X11 is no longer included with OS X, but X11 server and client libraries for OS X are available from the XQuartz project: http://xquartz.macosforge.org. You should use the latest available version of XQuartz. Additional Information Apple created the XQuartz project as a community effort to further develop and support X11 on OS X. The XQuartz project was originally based on the version of X11 included in Mac OS X v10.5. There have been multiple releases of XQuartz with fixes, support for new OS X features, and additional refinements to the X11 experience. Apple is a contributor to the XQuartz project and has worked to ensure that X11 works as expected in OS X with the latest available versions of XQuartz.
