Syphon Virtual Camera Not Sending Picture to OBS Virtual Camera

I'll see the program feed inside Syphon Virtual Camera from the origination point (Qlab, for example) but that picture is not being captured by OBS virtual camera. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling OBS,
Not sure whether:
- You're trying to get Syphon Virtual Webcam to show up as a source for OBS's virtual camera in OBS.
- This won't work afaik and there's no reason to do so because you could just pull a Syphon feed in from QLab or Isadora using a "Syphon Client" source in OBS.
- I don't know OBS super well, but if you're trying to get Syphon Virtual Webcam to show up as a source for OBS's virtual camera, that won't work. They're both designed to do the same thing; pick up video feeds that don't show up as actual cameras and output them so that they can be chosen as if they were actual cameras. There's no need to try to pull Syphon Virtual Webcam's video feed into OBS using OBS's virtual camera because Syphon Virtual Webcam should already be selectable as a video source I'd imagine.

- You're trying to use Syphon Virtual Webcam and OBS's Virtual Camera at the same time.
- This won't work afaik. We used OBS's public domain code for their virtual camera to create Syphon Virtual Webcam, so afaik you can't use both virtual cameras at the same time.
- You've said "OBS virtual webcam" because that's what Syphon Virtual Camera shows up as in Zoom when choosing your video source.
- If this is the case, I'm not sure what the issue is, as it works for me with no issues.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling OBS,
Either way, you don't need OBS installed at all to make our Syphon Virtual Webcam work as a source in Zoom. Here are the steps:
Example Gif of steps: http://recordit.co/WAm3dwfq9E
- Launch Zoom and join a Zoom Meeting
- Launch Syphon Virtual Webcam
- Launch Isadora
- In Isadora, send a video feed to a Stage
- In Isadora, go to Stage Setup, select the desired Stage from the Stage List on the left, then check the "Syphon" box in the Stage Settings at the bottom-middle of Stage Setup.
- In Syphon Virtual Webcam, you should automatically see the Isadora Stage now (unless you've got multiple Syphon feeds, in which case you'd need to specifically choose "[STAGE NAME] - Isadora" from the popup menu of sources at the top left of the Syphon Virtual Webcam application. If you've opened a fresh Isadora file and used Stage 1 for this without changing it's name this will be "Stage 1 - Isadora".)
- In Zoom, click the little "^" at the top right of the video button to open a list of video sources
- In Zoom, choose "OBS Virtual Camera" from the list of video sources
- You should now see the video from your Isadora Stage in Zoom.
Best wishes,
Woland
- You're trying to get Syphon Virtual Webcam to show up as a source for OBS's virtual camera in OBS.

Thank you for the quick response! Your scenario 3 is what I am running into:
You've said "OBS virtual webcam" because that's what Syphon Virtual Camera shows up as in Zoom when choosing your video source. If this is the case, I'm not sure what the issue is, as it works for me with no issues.
This has always worked seamlessly - I'm unsure what has changed and what "OBS Virtual Webcam" in Zoom is not displaying the "Syphon Virtual Webcam Picture"
Thanks!
Matt

Could you please follow each of my steps one by one and then report back what happens for you in step 9 so that I can confirm that you're not doing anything differently than I did?
-
@woland I don't use Isadora and never have... I use Qlab. I have followed all of the steps with Qlab ad when I click "OBS Virtual Camera" from the list of video sources, it just shows the blue OBS logo, not the actual picture that appears in Syphon Virtual Camera
-
Very strange. I've never heard of being able to see the content from the Syphon source in Syphon Virtual Webcam just fine, but not being able to see the content when you select Syphon Virtual Webcam (which shows up as "OBS Virtual Camera") as a video source in another application like Zoom.
@evildraco1 said: Tried uninstalling and reinstalling OBS, Syphon Virtual Camera, Zoom, etc. and now I can't even get the Syphon Virtual Camera application to do anything when it opens. (The app appears in the dock but nothing appears on the screen.)
So I take it that this is no longer the case? What changed between your original post and this one:
@evildraco1 said: the actual picture that appears in Syphon Virtual Camera
that you started being able to see Syphon Virtual Webcam showing your QLab content in itself but not in Zoom?
-
@woland I don't have a "Syphon Virtual Webcam" option in Zoom, only an "OBS Virtual Webcam"
-
Yes, that's what it shows up as in Zoom.
-
I have the same behaviour with Syphon Virtual Webcam and Zoom. A workaround is Isadora syphon out > Syphon-Client in OBS > start virtual Camera in OBS > Zoom/OBS Virtual Camera
Best regards,
Jean-François

Did you follow this procedure from the Syphon Virtual Webcam read me file?
Not Working with Zoom?
Some users reported that Syphon Virtual Webcam did not work with Zoom. The following procedure seemed to solve the problem for them.
- Quit all applications.
- In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder... In the dialog that appears, enter /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/ and click "Go"
- In the folder that appears, delete obs-mac-virtualcam.plugin and then empty the trash
- Delete Zoom from the Applications folder
- Ensure that in the Apple System Preferences, Security & Privacy > General > Allow Apps Downloaded From says "App Store and Identified Developers"
- Install Zoom (Version 5.1.2 or later)
- Run Syphon Virtual Webcam -- it should automatically ask you to install the OBS Virtual Camera driver. Follow the instructions to download and install the OBS Virtual Camera Plugin. (If it doesn't automatically ask you to install the plugin, try choosing Install OBS Virtual Camera Plugin from the Help menu instead.)
- Reboot your computer
- Open QuickTime Player and choose File > New Movie Recording.
- Click the little triangle near the record button to show the available video input devices. If you see OBS Virtual Camera, select it. (If not, then something has gone wrong. See Questions below.)
- After selecting OBS Virtual Camera in the popup, you should see the OBS Virtual Camera test pattern.
- If that succeeds, open Zoom and try to select OBS Virtual Camera as the video input.
- If that succeeds, run Syphon Virtual Webcam and feed it a Syphon video stream. You should be good to go.

it doesn't ask automatically and when I choose Install OBS Virtual Camera the syphon Virtual Webcam crashes. I have reload from TT Website the Syphon Virtual Webcam, reinstall it with the same result. By trying to install: crash.
I am on Sonoma, MacBookPro M1 Max
Best regards,

PS: yet nothing work at all. IN Isadora and OBS no more OBS Virtual camera
