      Hello Hivemind,

I'm wondering if it is possible to remotely build a stage mask using the dimensions provided in a design draft?
I am projecting onto a stretched fabric Arch as part of a ceremony and have a very limited amount of time for install and set up.
I have a detailed draft of the surface and would love to have the mask built before we install. I unfortunately don't have use of a projector until we are installed also.
Any tips on how to best prep for this are greatly appreciated.
      Cheers!

Do you know all the variables? The type of projector, the distance from the lens of the projector to the surface?

I'm not sure of the exact distance of the lens to the screen, but the projector will be the Epson LJ2000U. (7000 Lumens, 1920x 1200 Resolution, WUXGA, 16:10 Native Aspect, 1.45-2:31:1 Throw Ratio) with the standard Lens.

I think without all the variables known ahead of time, the best you can do is something approximate that will then need to be tweaked on site, but at least you won't have to start from scratch.

To get general shapes of things like this I create or take a picture of the thing I'm going to map onto from as close as possible to the same angle that the real projector would "see" it from if it were a camera lens, then I connect a Picture Player actor with that picture to a Projector actor, double-click the Projector actor to open IzzyMap, then use Composite IzzyMap Slices to create a mask the shape of the object in the image. Once I'm on-site I can massage the shape of the mask to more closely fit, but it gives me a starting point.

                Hope that's helpful.

                Best wishes,

                Woland

I would build a simple scale model and go from there....
