Remote Onboarding Strategy
-
Hello all,
It's fairly common for me to have remote gigs in which I'm sending izzy patches out for use by people who aren't familiar with the software. Over time, I've refined how I present the work and some things I try to remember to remind them. Running the patch is almost always the most straightforward, but getting everything installed is a bit more challenging (especially as I often use the Vidvox shaders they'll need to convert on their end for the patch to run).
I'm interested in formalizing my process for this. Does anyone have a process/strategy they use for this kind of quick onboarding for how to run (but not necessarily build within) Isadora?
Best,Rory

Why do they need to convert them on their end?

You could send them all the files they need, including the extra plugins, shaders, and the installer, along with an AppleScript (macOS) or .bat file (Windows) that they just need to double-click and it'll do all the installation for them.
Of course, this means you need to write the script to make that happen, but it's about as hands-off a way as I think is possible right now.

Although most of the time I just do the setup for them myself remotely via screen control in Zoom or TeamViewer

Thanks. I think the remote screen control might be the best solution for me here. I'm not confident that I can write the scripts such that navigating their mac security settings/permissions is less work than granting remote control.
