      Hi!

      This morning I had in a venue a Panasonic PT-REC10, wich have  a 4K resolution. My old mac (2013) see spects in my signature, was not able to play my videos at nornal speed (i had glintches, and droped frames). Finally I had to use another projector.

      I guess it is cause for the 4K resolution, but I wonder if it is a esy to resolve this

      Thanks for your help

      Best regards

        Hey there Daniel,

        A Macbook from 2013 is going to have issues with outputting a 4k stream.. I don't believe there is a way around that.

            @danielpineiro you can use a 4K projector at 1920x1080 output in your system settings. It will not utilize the full brightness but hv fit setting on the projector should fill the frame.
            Assuming your content is HD as well. That way you keep content and output consistent, no upscaling involved, which your integrated graphics isnt really up to.
            also pay attention to refresh rate: if your content is 25fps use 50hZ, ntsc or 30 fps at 60hZ.

            hope this gets you started.

              Hi, I tried to change my mac output settings, but I just can do it for the mac own screen.  I don´t find a way to change the projector resolution.

              I think @Juriann is right, and there is not way around.

              Is good to keep in mind this, because I never realize that I can not use a 4k projector !!!

              Fortunatly I had a B plan (my own projector) :)

              Regards!

                @DanielPineiro @justhere

                4K (UHD) and fullHD does have the same aspect. Most 4K Projectors does scale HD to UHD and from and to any other supported signal seamlessly. Therefore no projection area is lost, nor is brightness. This is only the case if the projectors native aspect doesn't fit to the source aspect (eg. FullDH source to WUXGA Projector 16:10). But 4K (UHD) and fullHD does have the same aspect.
                Most 4K Projectors does scale HD to UHD as well from and to any other SUPPORTED signal seamlessly. Therefore no projection area is lost, nor is brightness. This is only the case if the projectors native aspect doesn't fit to the source aspect (eg. FullDH 16:9 source to WUXGA 16:10 Projector).

                The specific projectors main Specs say

                Resolution 4K (3840 x 2400 pixels) (Quad Pixel Drive: ON)
                This is the native chip resolution (* see Pixel shift at the end of this post):
                Looking at the detailed specs (page 17/25 and following) you'll find a list of all supported resolutions.

                Maybe you could provide the exact issue (screen shots), which results in 'I don´t find a way to change the projector resolution.'?

                *Just for the nerds: Only very few of the projectors on the market provide real native 4k Chip resolution but use pixel shifting.
                Basically, the RGB pixels aren't projected on the same spot, but are shifted a little bit, in extra frames. An RGB full frame picture this way becomes three frames R +shifted G +shifted B picture, resulting in a higher virtual resolution.

                  Hi! , I'm afraid I can't provide any screenshots as I don't have access to the 4K projector. I tried modifying in System > Screens, but only settings for the built-in screen appeared, not those for the projector. I could select "duplicate screen" or use it as an "independent display", but in either case, the videos were not playing correctly.

                    @danielpineiro

                    your description of the issue is very unusual. Before getting to the Isadora issues, you'd need to solve the resolution in MacOS (Big Sur).
                    If you get a picture of the desktop on the external projector, there has to be a possibility to configure it in the 'Display' menu.

                    I don't have the Big Sur version here to check it. But as far as I remember, the system preferences menu is called 'Displays' not screens.
                    If the projector is recognized by the OS, AND mirroring is deactivated, there should open one window on every screen / projection, connected. If you can't see those windows, there is a button on the main screen window, saying 'Gather windows'.

                    Path to the display settings:

                    Apple symbol on top left -> system preferences -> Displays
                    In the appearing separately extra window, which is dedicated to the external device (projector) you need to change to 'scaled'. A List of possible resolutions should appear.

                      Hi, I think you are right!. As I said, I have no access to the 4k projector, but I test it with a LG HF85JG projector:

                      My OS is in spanish, but the key is the button "Reunir ventanas" (Gather windows), that shows in my computer screen the options for the projector resolution.  For sure that I didn´t see that in the venue.

                      Thanks a lot for your help!

                        if the button 'Reunir ventanas' doesn't show up, this usually means that no external output device is recognised. But as you described that there was an output in the projector, this wouldn't be the case but unusual strange.

                        Under the Tab 'Alineacion' / 'Arrangement', you can see how many displays are recognized, how they are aligned or if they are mirrored.
