Live Video Stream with high resolution and low latency - asking for setup solutions
-
Dear Isadora Crowd,
we are setting up a performance that will simultaneously take place in Berlin and Bangkok, connected via live video stream.
Our setup is as follows:
Zoom Call (Pro Account) -> ZoomISO outputting the participants video stream via Syphon -> Isadora
Problem: we are only getting 640x360 maximum resolution so far.
Apparently we need to request HD from the Zoom Support, which we now did to get at least 720. To get 1080 apparently one needs a business account and we cannot really afford that.
So our question is: Does anyone have more tipps on this / done this before / some best practise advice?
And: is there another way? We figured that Zoom can give us the best low latency (better than f.e. streaming via OBS and Twitch, which has minimum 5 sec. latency), but we are not really satisfied with the resolution options so far. So wondering if there is a better streaming solution we haven´t found yet?
Is there something else we are missing out?
Thank you!
Best, Rosa

High quality point to point streaming is complicated or (but usually and) expensive.
I’m not sure how many participants on the call but you can try Skype with NDI. It’s similar latency to Zoom, and the last time I used it I got a 1080 NDI stream out. This will do up to 4 streams. You can also offload the Skype part to another computer which makes things a bit neater. Good cameras or capture cards and computers at every location with wired internet connections will definitely help things along too

The upcoming IzzCast feature of Isadora 4 supports HD (1080) video, and runs on the zoom backend. I don't know what your timeline is for your event, please feel free to open a support ticket if you are interested in getting started with this new feature.

Another good place to get advice (particularly about Zoom and ZoomISO) is Office Hours Global (a pro AV community with lots of knowledgeable and helpful folks that do things like run live broadcast events for the NFL, the US Government, Disney, etc.). You can join the Office Hours discord and go to the channel "I-need-help" or the channels for Zoom or ZoomISO: https://discord.com/invite/Nwr4j8pnY5
