Display, stages, screens order
-
I get crazy with the way Isadora manage displays. Why is the order reverse from the order in system prefs?
BenQ PJ (1), BenQ PJ (2), BenQ PJ (3), Built-in in System
BenQ PJ (3), BenQ PJ (2), BenQ PJ (1), Built-in in Isadora
Why it is not possible to get the built-in screen as the last one (here #4) so that the numbers in Isadora match to the logical screen in this case BenQ PJ (1) as #1 and not as #2.
and I'm not talking about the fact that although I plugged the projectors in from left to right (as described by @Fred) the first projector is now in the centre. But maybe that's down to Apple. I can't say now.

Jean-François

If it's any consolation, it's the same issue in Windows.
I have posted about this before, ad nauseum -
@jfg Hi! I had this problem months ago and its 100% solved now. Just buy some $20 EDID minders and plug them into the back of your projectors in between the HDMI slot and the HDMI cable. Never had projectors out of order since then no matter what I do.

@jfg You might need an EDID emulator: https://www.extron.com/product...

It's not the issue of the displays not consistently appearing in Isadora in the right order, which yes, an EDID emulator (mostly) solves, but the fact that the display order in the OS never matches the display order in Isadora. -
@skulpture Thanks a lot, I didn't now that ! (I'm on a mac) DO you know an Isadora compatible mac version of that ?

I already use EDID and this is not a problem of unreliability of the order. I just wish that when the System Preferences for a device give the number 1, I would also find in Isadora #1 and not #4. It also seems that monitors are numbered before projectors even if the projectors were connected first.
It would also be helpful if the device (monitors, projector or internal display) with the system (primary) was numbered last in the chain, so we would have the chance to have stage 1 on device 1 and not basically on 2.
I would also like the list of displays in Stage setup to show the names of the devices , like the ‘Display Overview’. If all devices have the same resolution it is not easy to know which one is which, even more so that they do not show the same number as in the system prefs.
Best regards,
Jean-François

Noted. We have a number of feature requests covering these changes already in the system and they are marked as priorities. I can't give any timelines, but this is an area we hope to develop again soon.

I don't sorry - but I am sure there is one somewhere.

Ah I see - slightly misunderstood. I will leave my original post for others as it might be useful for future readers.
