Sending Timecode to an external device
-
Hi, I am trying to find the best way to send Midi Timecode out of Isadora to an external device so that a lighting desk can sync to my output.
I can get timecode from my audio/video file using the current movie player, I just don't know how to output the values so they can sync.
Thanks,
Mark

@renegadeboy You have a few choices, but starting with LTC as an audio track on your video files is a great begining.
From there you can use hardware or software to convert LTC to MTC. IF you use software you need to route the audio output to an audio input with a cable or virtual soudn card.
For OSX you can use loopback to route the audio and lockstep to do the conversion https://figure53.github.io/stu...
There are a variety of virtual audio cards for windows, I am not a fan of them but they do work - there are a bunhc of forum posts about them.
From there you can use this free software: https://github.com/Gouttfi/smp... or a number of paid softwares https://txl20.com/timecode-exp... https://isotonikstudios.com/pr...
I like hardware devices as you dont need to mess around and they operate independantly, there are soem cheaper ones: https://www.doremidi.cn/h-pd-8...
I have used this fancier one that also does artnet timecode: https://www.visualproductions....
You can also do this with some annyoing work with Reaper or Chataigne
