MIDI Port Configuration Not Saved in Isadora 3.2.6 on macOS Monterey (Even with IAC Virtual Ports)
-
Hi everyone,
I’m encountering a persistent issue with Isadora 3.2.6 on macOS Monterey:
The MIDI port configuration is not saved after restarting the computer — even when using stable virtual ports like IAC.Here’s the full setup:
-
macOS Monterey
-
USB MIDI controller (direct connection or via unpowered USB hub)
-
Also tested with macOS IAC virtual ports (enabled in Audio MIDI Setup)
-
Preferences file:
~/Library/Preferences/Isadora Prefs 3.2.6.izp
-
File path verified, correct read/write permissions
-
Isadora is properly closed via
Isadora > Quit Isadora
-
After relaunching Isadora, the MIDI port is reset to "None" in Communications > MIDI Setup
This issue occurs even when using the IAC ports, which are supposed to have stable names and identifiers across sessions.
Questions:
-
Is this a known limitation in Isadora?
-
Are there any recommendations or workarounds to ensure that the MIDI port configuration is retained across reboots?
-
Could there be a hidden preference or a fix in a newer version?
Thank you very much for your insights and support!
Best regards,

Do you mean in the same file or different files?
-
Have you tried the same thing in Isadora 4.0.9?
Isadora 3.2.6 was released in December of 2022, so there's been quite a lot of changes since then and it's possible that what you're running into has already been addressed in a more modern version of the software.
