Random picture player?

Relatively new to Isadora but hoping someone can tell me a way to do this. I've got a 10+ scene program built but in one of the last scenes I want to have photos flying around. The thing is, the photos will be taken earlier in the evening, possibly after the Isadora show has already started. And I don't know how many there will be or what the filenames will be.
So, is there a way for Isadora to monitor a folder that will be full of jpg files and then randomly pick a specific number of them for display? If not, can anyone suggest some creative work-arounds (for example, pre-populate the media list and then make sure the new jpg files have the same filename - could that work...)?

Unfortunately Windows has no scripting mechanism like Applescript that can talk to an application. I don't have a good solution for the Windows platform.
