[ANSWERED] Scene Line bug?
-
Hi folks,
I've found a weird and new-to-me interface problem in v4.1.3: I have 100 scenes in my show and when I get to the end, it's as if they disappear. What's actually happening is that they are scrolling so far over to the left that they go off the screen. It seems impossible to add more scenes at the end of the line. I tried to add them earlier and drag them to where I want them, but when I try to do that, it deletes whatever is the current last scene in the show.
It may be related to this, but I am WAY under 290 scenes... [ANSWERED] Urgent Help needed Can't add more than 290 scenes
Anyone else?
Cheers,
Hugh v4.1.3

It is the same as the bug you linked to.
The issue is not a Scene limit, but actually a pixel limit. You can fit 290 Scenes with the default Scene width, but if you make your Scene names wider you'll hit the bug more quickly. A workaround is to shrink your Scenes horizontally as much as you can while still having them remain readable. You can shorten names by abbreviating things, e.g., a Scene named "BLACKOUT" could be changed to just "B/O" or "BO", a Scene named "Midsummer Night's Dream Scene 1 Act 1" can be shortened to "MSND S1A1", etc. If you still hit the issue after making your Scene names less wide, you can just shrink them as small as they will go (making them unreadable in the Scene List) and then use the Scene Select Control in the Control Panel to see what the names are and to navigate.

Thanks, I understood that. My names are mostly abbreviated already, but I'll try to shorten them further. I didn't think about the tip of simply hiding part of the name! I'll try that, too.
Cheers,
Hugh

Well, you couldn't have because you didn't know it was a pixel limit and not a Scene Limit ;)
This issue is one that really annoys me personally, so once we have this next release out the door, I'll see what I can do about pestering one of the programmers to get this bug fixed.
