@crystalhorizon You have no idea how much this makes me want to move to Vienna. Thankfully I plan on moving to Berlin, and there was talk at the Werkstatt of organizing a regular Isadora Stammtisch in Berlin, so I'll be able to get my fix there hopefully.

Nach der 2. Isadora Werkstatt in Berlin, wurde die Idee geboren regelmäßige regionale Treffen zu organisieren. Niemand hat damit gerechnete, dass sich dieser Gedanke so schnell verbreitet: Izzy Stammtisch New York ist schon voll am Laufen. 

Es sind alle eingeladen, egal ob erfahrene User oder Interessierte, die noch nie mit Isadora gearbeitet haben. Dieses erste Zusammentreffen in Wien wird in der Nordbahnhalle am 28.10.17. stattfinden. Es soll der Raum für einen kreativen Austausch von bereits laufenden Projekten oder zukünftiger Ideen geboten werden.

Was ist eigentlich Isadora? 
Ein Media Server der Cues abspielt ist die simpleste Anwendungen. Doch der Spass beginnt wenn die Medien interaktiv reagieren sollen. Wenn deine Arbeit improvisatorischen Charakter hat und du neue Ideen schnell umsetzen möchtest.  So wird Isadora zum Creativity Server. 

Dazu bietet Isadora umfangreiche Mapping features, 6 unabhängige Video outputs, 4 live Kamera feeds, schnelle GPU Video Effekte inklusive FreeFrameGL, GLSL shaders, Syphon/Spout, professionellen Video codec support inklusive HAP, 8 HD Videos auf einem i7 Laptop mit SSD.

Interaktiv
Alle Parameter lassen sich in Echtzeit interaktiv kontrollieren. Und das alles mit niedriger Latenz über OSC, MIDI, Serial, TCP/IP, und vielen mehr. Neben der Unterstützung von Video tracking, Arduino via eingebauten Serial input/output und Javascript, helfen ausführliche Tutorials wie ua für Kinect und TouchOSC.

Isadora enables artists to create performances and installations where video, sound and light react interactively to sensory input. If you are already an Isadora user, or would like to learn more about how Isadora can enable your artistic practice, then please join us for the first Isadora (Izzy) Stammtisch in Vienna on October 28th.

We are excited to announce that Isadora’s creator, composer and media artist Mark Coniglio, will join us for this first gathering. During the first 30 minutes or so, he will offer an introduction to the software for those who might not yet know it. (His talk will be in English, but German translation will be offered if needed.)

Next, in a segment called “My Favorite Patch,” we will invite existing users to present their work to the group. In seven minutes or less, you will have the chance to show us the varied and inventive ways you are using sensors/live capture to expand interactive experiences in your projects.

Finally, we’ll break off into smaller groups to experiment, hack, and and try out ideas with the help of Coniglio and Stammtisch hosts Alex Nantschev and Eni Brandner. This will be your chance to ask questions, get involved, and work together. If you have specific wishes, let us know and we’ll try to help. Bring your project/idea and we’ll have a drink together while we work on it!

Isadora ermöglicht KünstlerInnen Performances und Installationen zu erschaffen, in denen Video, Sound und Licht interaktiv auf Input von Sensoren reagiert. Wenn Du bereits Isadora-Benutzer bist oder mehr darüber erfahren möchtest, wie Isadora Deine künstlerische Praxis erweitern kann, dann besuche uns am 28. Oktober auf dem ersten Isadora (Izzy) Stammtisch in Wien.

Wir freuen uns, dass Isadora’s Entwickler, der Komponist und Medienkünstler Mark Coniglio zu diesem ersten Treffen kommen wird. In den ersten circa 30 Minuten wird er eine Einführung in die Software für diejenigen geben, die sie vielleicht noch nicht kennen. (Sein Vortrag wird in englischer Sprache sein, aber bei Bedarf wird eine deutsche Übersetzung möglich sein).

Danach laden wir in einem Segment mit dem Namen "My Favorite Patch" bestehende Benutzer ein, ihre Arbeit der Gruppe vorzustellen. In weniger als sieben Minuten haben sie die Möglichkeit, uns zu zeigen, wie vielfältig und erfinderisch sie mit Sensoren und/oder Live-Capture interaktive Erlebnisse in ihre Projekten integrieren.

Dann werden wir kleinere Gruppen bilden und  - mit Hilfe von Coniglio und Stammtisch-Gastgebern Alex Nantschev und Eni Brandner - experimentieren, hacken und Ideen ausprobieren. Hier hast Du die Chance, Fragen zu stellen, dich einzubringen und mit anderen zusammenzuarbeiten. Wenn Du spezielle Wünsche hast, lass es uns wissen und wir werden versuchen Lösungsansätze zu finden. Bring Dein Projekt/Deine Idee mit und wir trinken gemütlich was, während wir daran arbeiten!

So exciting! I wish I could be there! I am already looking forward to the second Isadora Stammtisch NYC, thank you for inspiring me to start it up. Also, do you mind if I copy and paste parts of your excellent descriptions of Isadora into my posts about Isadora Stammtisch NYC in future and onto my website (where I have a section devoted to a quick run-down of Isadora)?

I like how we've both come up with the idea of inviting folks to bring their in-progress projects so the collective can hive-mind solutions and workflows to help them out. Once I start forming more connections with universities and colleges here in NYC, I think this particular aspect will make the Stammtisch Events very attractive, engaging, and helpful to/for students. Add to that the fact that students will be able to meet and have access to artistic powerhouses like @Shigezo and @Bob288 and you've got the potential to have these events be fabulous opportinities for young and emerging artists to network and learn. I really think these events will help expand our wonderful community, and I'm excited for all the new folks we'll bring in, all the new and interesting people we'll all meet, and all the interesting work we'll all create together. I love mentoring folks and teaching Isadora, so I'm really excited to see this event series take off. Hopefully we'll see other folks start them up in other cities soon too.

If and when Isadora Stammtisch events start gaining traction and cropping up in other cities, perhaps we could make a pinned post with contact information for the people who run the events in various cities so that interested parties have a directory through which they can find the Stammtisch series that's closest to them. Have fun at the Vienna Stammtisch, wish I could be there!
