      Dear All,

Yes, we finally did it. The web site is updated, the new store with the new pricing, and the Isadora 3 downloads are all live.

We will not announce the release of Isadora 3 on social media until tomorrow. That will give those who already know Isadora the chance to jump first. Be forewarned: upgrades require manual attention; unlike new purchases, you will not get your license information immediately. We'll be processing those as quickly as we can. It shouldn't take more than 24 hours at most.

It's not just Isadora 3 that's new -- the whole store was revised to allow the new licensing system to be put in place. If you have any trouble at all, open a ticket and inform us right away. That will give us a chance to fix any issues we may not have foreseen with the purchasing process.

This is the most thoroughly tested version of Isadora we've ever released. But it's possible you clever folks will find something we missed. If that happens, and it's serious, we will get a minor point release (e.g., 3.0.1) out as quickly as humanly possible. That said, even with all the delays, there were thing we wanted to get in that we simply couldn't before today. So, expect an Isadora 3.1 and maybe even a 3.2 by the time we get the Isadora Werkstatt in August.

Finally, please check out is the all new Plugins section of the TroikaTronix website. With the release of this new tool, you not only have a central location where you will find new plugins from us, but you will also be able to upload your own User Actors, GLSL code, and patches. This is resource that will only expand how our amazing community can share their know how and creativity with each other.

A little reminder for long time Isadora users: QuickTime is no longer part of Isadora for Windows. That means Apple Pro Res and legacy codecs like QuickTime's Animation codec will no longer play on the Windows version of Isadora. The new cross platform standard for Isadora 3 is HAP: HAP .mov files or HAP .avi files play beautifully on both platforms, and also offer the best performance in terms of usability. That said, Isadora 3 on Windows can play the full range of codecs offered by Windows Media Foundation, including H264. A full list of those codecs can be seen here.

(We are committed to creating a kind of tool that will allow you to convert to HAP more easily on Windows; we'll also have a knowledge base article on how various [free] ways to do that on Windows. In the meantime, you can always use QuickTime Player for Windows to convert to HAP .mov files if you install the QuickTime For Windows HAP Codec.)

On this topic for our MacOS users: QuickTime's death has been etched in stone with the annoncement of MacOS 10.15 Catalina this fall. If you upgrade to that version of MacOS, you will no longer be able to play legacy formats that only QuickTime can play because no 32-bit code will run on Catalina. So keep that in mind as we move into the future.

Finally, I need to thank the entire team: Ryan Webber (@DusX), Lucas Wilson Spiro (@Woland) who did the bulk of the testing (and haven't slept for probably 48 hours),  Monty Martin (@mc_monte) who did Mac testing and updated the Isadora 3 manual, Michel Weber (@Michel) who not only manages the forum but pretty much single-handedly designed the new Plugins section. I'd also like to thank Graham Thorne (@Skulpture) who, along with his students at the Backstage Academy, provided essential feedback to our process. Last but not least, I want to thank Xenia Leydel (@xenia) our company manager whose precision, care, and ability to see the big picture, made sure we stayed afloat during this entire process.

We look forward to hearing your feedback as you dig in to our new release. Tomorrow I will prepare a short video that will summarize the new features for users who know Isadora 2; that should allow you to get moving as quickly as possible.

Thank to everyone for your patience, enthusiasm, and support getting to this point. We hope you'll love the release and that it will lead you to new creative places.

      Warmly + With Gratitude,
      Mark

And thank you to YOU Hugh! You zeroed in on several important bugs in the last few weeks of the beta test. Isadora would be worse off without your time and effort. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

                Always a pleasure, Mark.

Question about the Plugins page: Some plugins say that they are 64 bit, some 32. If it doesn't mention it, are we to assume that the plugins are 64 bit?

Totally looking forward to trying out the TT GLSL things!!

                Cheers,

If it doesn't mention it, you can comment on it and ask the plugin's author. User Actors and Macros for Isadora 2 can be read by Isadora 3.

Thank's to keep this tool alive and usefull.

                        I have two questions :

Do we need to be between 10.10 and 10.13 ? No compatibility with Mojave ?

Do previous Isadora users need to buy upgrades ???

I have often to use other tools in France, like Modulo or Millumin because Productions chose them but my heart belongs to Isadora from the beginning...

and I hope this community will shine and seduce again !

That's a typo on the store. It is compatible with and has been tested continuously on Mojave.

Fantastic, opening it for the first time 1 minute ago felt like unwrapping an early Christmas present! Thank you so much Mark et al, I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface yet but the fact that both my internal BM cards are selectable outputs is great. And native NDI too! Well done everyone involved.

If it does not say 32bit or 64bit in the title it will mostly work for version 2 and 3. You can see if its compatible if you open the plugins page.

                                           Very brave move
