      @Juriaan

      If you look through the release notes for Isadora 3, it suggests e-gpu’s are not compatible. It appears that Isadora 3 has not been extensively tested with them.

      Best wishes

           Hi Barney, what is that exactly? So you specify the gpu that Isadora use.

          Best wishes

            Hi Russel,

            I am using a Razor CoreX, it can hold a 3 slot card, runs on a 650 watt supply that delivers enough power for the graphics and 100watt at USB C, very important to charge the 15 inch Macbook. Inside I put a Radeon Vega 56 8G. The new Razor Core X Chroma is even more interesting with a 700 watt supply, and 4 USB Slots and Gigabit ethernet.

            Cheer, Barney

                Bonemap has the right of it. None of the team has this hardware and as such we cannot guarantee that the software will work with it. You are welcome to try on your own, but officially egpus are not supported and we cannot provide technical support for issues encountered as a result of using them because we do not possess the means to trouble-shoot them.

                  Thank you for the feedback.
                  I will borrow a razer core and a 7100 card in September.
                  I will also tell you how it reacts on my side,
                  even if it will take a long test to be sure that it works properly...
                  Cheers to.... Victor

                    Maybe a suggestion if the design team can give some test suggestions to test my setup? So far it works great for my simple setups,  but it would be nice to do some in stress tests to see how it really performs.

                      @barneybroomer

                      I think the number one thing I would look to stress test with an egpu would be copy/transfer speeds.

                      First when running Isadora on the egpu do you see gpu usage on the internal gpu? Are you sure it's running on the egpu or is it copying to the egpu?

                      If it's running on the egpu (and not internally and copying) performance could be very good. You will want to run as many high res outputs as you can and ensure that you are not seeing a drastic decrease in fps just due to output size (Total. #displays × dimensions).  A large performance decrease may indicate a data bottleneck.

                      If the output speed seems good.. you will want to ensure that Isadora can access the textures for use inside the application. Testing the monitor and stage preview controls as well as the link hover thumbnails. Are these features stable? Do they affect the output? (Fps or sync)

                      I'm considering one of the Razor units. This is perhaps something we can consider for a future release. It does seem these units are getting better and may provide a nice bridge beyond the current laptop limitations.

                        I ran 4 times full HD over 4 beamers with about 20 mappings over the four stages, , live video input and four full HD movies running at 5 percent.....I am now in Serbia , but back next week, so I will run those tests.

                          Thanks so much for spearheading this, please do let us know what your results are. I'm investigating getting an egpu setup for the office.
