[ANSWERED] Kinect Plug in
-
Hi - I wasn't attend the Kinect session at Werkstatt this year as it was full - someone mentioned that there was a new plug in that solved a lot of the issues with the Kinect and Isadora. Is that right? If so, can you let me know when it will be available?
Thanks so much

We're still beta testing it. There is one lingering, unexplained hard crash that is preventing me from releasing it to the public. I wrote this in the private beta testers thread two days ago when someone there also asked when the same question as you.
While the crashes are in third-party libraries over which I have no control, nobody is going to care about that if they're doing a show and Isadora crashes in front of an audience. They will blame Isadora. I need to see if this can be stabilized so we can offer these plugins with at least a decent level of reliability, because part of our mantra for Isadora 3 is to make our software crazy reliable. We've done well on that account I think, and we need to continue on that path.
In the end, I have not been able to spend any time on the camera tracking issues for the last two or more weeks becasuse of macOS Catalina. But I feel that I must solve the problems listed above before we release the plugins to the public. I can only stress that we've done something special with these and they are also super high priority for us. It's just that there are some things that are of an even higher priority and those have to come first, e.g., Catalina.
So the answer is, I can't say yet. Catalina is out and we must deliver a version of Isadora that works with it. Once that's out of our hair, I will immediately return to the depth map camera tracking plugins and get them done as soon as I can.
Best Wishes,

Just to make one thing clear regarding this topic, the Kinect for Xbox one is currently not being beta tested. So if you are using this hardware, please be aware that it might not be included in the plugin when it is released.
The plugin currently supports the Kinect 1414 if I'm not mistaken, Orbbec Astra and the Intel Realsense. -
I've been waiting since an over-motivated beta tester posted a screenshot of the 'kinect actor' on Facebook. Is there any hope in that regard?
