[ANSWERED] Network connection from MacBook Pro to Projector

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all well? 

This is an incredibly basic question I'm sure, with an incredibly simple answer I bet. You see I want to control the shutter on a Panasonic PT RZ120 projector via Izzy. I'm quite sure this can be done, I've poured over "Using the Send PJLink Actor" Knowledge base tutorial. I've also studied the recent forum threads on using the PJLink actor. But still I have no joy. 

According to the manual the projector definitely recognises PJLink protocol and I've ensured that the I.P. address matches in the Send PJLink actor and I've kept the IP port as default: 4352. The projector does not have a password so I've left this blank. I've ensured that the projector is set to receive PJLink.

I was hoping I could quite literally connect projector to laptop via a "straight" Ethernet cable and select the video (shutter) and audio mute (AVMT 31) option, but it's not working and I've been trying all sorts. Please could someone tell me if this is correct? At the moment I get an error message - I don't have the patch open in front of me but it either says an error 60 or an error 51.

 I'm not sure that a direct connection will work (EDIT: I was wrong, you can do this, I just never do.) 

I always connect them both to an ethernet switch or a router because it's more flexible and allows me to network to the projector from the booth or the tech table without any fear of having to actually touch cables connected to a hung+focused+mapped projector when the tech table moves into the booth. It can be a garbage/cheap switch or router; you don't really need anything fancy.

you can connect it directly, there is no more the necessity to "cross" the wiring but you need to have the two devices (computer and projector) in the same class of IP addresses.

By default Panasonic give an address like 192.168.0.x (you can change it) with mask : 255.255.255.0, so you have to set it manualy inside the same network (192.168.0.x, 255.255.255.0)

Like @jhoepffner already mentioned, you can do a direct connection with the projector. Please be aware that you need to have the same IP range / Subnet
