Hi, I was in the middle of building something larger and stopped because the envelope trigger stopped working. I rebooted and it still didn't work.

I started deleting things to see what was causing it, and this is the core that's left.

            Hi,

I think you will find this is expected behaviour. It is because a circular routing like this is not possible in Isadora (where the output of an actor is wired through to the same actor input i.e. leads back to itself). I have hit this many, many times. You can think about placing a broadcaster and listener into the patch to overcome the limitation.

            Best Wishes

Like @bonemap already stated, creating a cycle patch like you currently do is not allowed in Isadora and it will cause all inputs / outputs to be deactivated. I also hit this many times. You can use a Broadcaster / Listener combo as work-around

Ok, Sounds like a good plan.

Also, adding anything that makes it not a closed loop gets around this.

By the way, the reason Isadora prevents you from creating closed loops of actors like this is to try to avoid allowing situations where users can accidentally program themselves into a corner with infinite loops. Once you know the workaround of tricking Isadora into thinking it's not a closed loop it's pretty easy to get around though.

Is this a 'trick' that you use to get around it or it this officially supported ? Like can we expect this trick to work in a few months / can we use it for new work.
