Bring Zoom Chat and Events into Isadora
-
I made a quick tutorial on how to pull in the Zoom chat and other event data into Isadora:
The idea is that you can use this information to build things that react automatically to Zoom within your Isadora patch (essentially using Zoom as a trigger). A fun use case of this is annotating your performance with audience commentary in an aesthetically tasteful way using Isadora to design how and when this feedback is presented in your output feed, which is one of the things I feel is lacking these days in online performance works.
@Woland has built some very impressive games using this system as well, and I would love to show those off at some point (trivia games, asteroids, etc.) all controlled by the Zoom chat.
I hope this new output system can be of assistance!

Hello @liminal_andy and @Woland!
I have 2 quick questions about ZoomOSC with Isadora1) Do you know if it is possible to get the data from the Zoom poll results? Example: if the audience highest vote is 2:Blue can we get the "Blue" text into Izzy through OSC?
2) Is it only possible to send messages to everyone on the Zoom chat on Windows still or is Mac able to do this now?
stated here it says: "/chatAll in the “everyone channel” is limited to Windows at the moment." https://filedn.com/lJhb55s9GTL...
Thank you very much,Caroline MacCaull

@liminal_andy Hi Andy,
Thanks for the tutorial. Since you can activate zoom osc functions inside zoom ISO (brilliant Idea by the way) the tutorial is also valid for zoom ISO. Is it ?

Yes. ZoomISO has all the features of ZoomOSC built into it, so it'll be the exact same. The only functional difference between them (other than the additional ZoomISO features) is that ZoomOSC can run on macOS and Windows, but ZoomISO only works on Apple Silicon (M-Series).

@woland Thanks woland. In fact, I have bought zoom Iso and I could send and receive osc to and from zoom ISO and Isadora. My question to Andy was if ALL of the zoom OSC commands have been implemented it zoom ISO. Isadora and zoom ISO are a terrific combination for hybrid events.

I was already 99% certain that the answer to this is "Yes", but after checking the ZoomISO v2 documentation, I found that it refers the user to the ZoomOSC documentation for the ZoomOSC commands, so I am now 99.99% sure. I could always be wrong though.
On another note, if you're working on a project with ZoomISO/ZoomOSC, if you need an Isadora programmer who's very familiar with ZoomOSC, I've worked on large/complex projects/events for Zoom and other companies using ZoomOSC and I already have pre-built User Actors and a template file that covers almost all of the ZoomOSC commands.
Best wishes,
Woland

@woland Thanks Woland. Very good to know. I am doing also some more user actors for lower thirds and other zoom ISO commands. I'll put all of them in the add-ons page now that Ryan has solved my login issues. Excitying times for Isadora users ahead !!!
