[ANSWERED] Failure .obj to .3ds
-
After three days I'm out of ideas. I really cannot succeed to transform the enclosed .obj file, that is ok in wings3d and mesh lab, to a working file in Isadora. Get the image and mesh but not the texture. Really getting nuts and would love to pick up the inspiring work...
Anybody can assist?
Thanks enormously! Peter

didn't succeed to enclose the files. But if anybody has an idea I would love to send them.

did you try to compress the file as a .zip archive to attach with the post? I would be happy to have a look for you.

Great. Thanks.
The forum acts funny here, but this is my try to get the files send. Which failed again. (Is there a max to file size? Cause this .obj is 12 MB including texture jpg.

Thanks again.

Hi Peter,
You can use the direct chat message feature of this forum to send the Wetransfer link if that is appropriate. Thanks for sharing your video work, that is a real treat!

Hi,
There may have been just a small error with the mesh metadata because my 3D application will not export the obj to 3ds because it indicates it is above the 65000 vertices limit for 3ds. I was able to decimate the mesh in Meshlab and reassign the texture file to a 3ds mesh in a 3D application. It all appears to be good now.
I can't tell you why there appeared to be different interpretations of the vertices count in the various software, but I suspect there may have been an error in the file's metadata.

Great again! It works. Thanks!!!!
Now I will have to go over the process of creating a 3ds from Blender to obj and convert obj to 3ds (Wings3d/Meshlab/?) and see where the ship gets stuck on the rocks.
But I'm back to work now with your files! Thanks again.
