      Hi everyone,

I'm currently running a 2015 Macbook Pro (High Sierra, Processor: 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Graphics: Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB), and I'm considering upgrading to one of the 2021 Macbook Pro models. Certain shaders run the GPU pretty high.

I would like to run MaxMSP and Isadora simultaneously with Open Sound Control, doing live audio/video processing while streaming motion sensor data over wifi. Does anyone have experience with the new models and their capacities? What minimum requirements should I be looking for?

      Thanks,

      Scott

        Hi there!

Welcome to the Isadora community forum. Glad to have you here!

Personally I would say that all modern day Macbook Pro's from that generation are capable of running Isadora and Max MSP in parallel with OSC communication in between them.

You say that you use a lot of GPU Shaders in your work, honestly both the M1 Max and the M1 Pro are perfect for the job.

Going to tag some more Mac savy people here, they might disagree with me ;)

@Woland Care to give your opinion?

        Thanks!

I have a lot of experience in that. I would say that it all depends on what you need to videoprocess or sound process locally in IZZY and MAX. For data there is no problem whatsoever with your machine.

          All the best to you

            Thanks @armando and @Juriaan.

I'm running live sound through Max, using live motion sensor data (from 2 IMUs) to control sound processing, and sending the data (and perhaps live sound analysis metrics) to Izzy via OSC. Sound processing is mostly granulation and live convolution reverb.

Simultaneously, I want to use the same sensor data (and perhaps sound analysis data) to process video (from a live camera, video files, or a shader).
