I'm not a MAC person, do forgive me if this is a stupid question.

I'll have to use a Late 2013 Trash Can for a show in the very near future. They tell me that they're unable to update the OS to something more recent than El Capitan (I think that's only because they don't know how). Does anyone see this as being an issue? Can I successfully use the latest version of Isadora on that OS ? Should I insist on updating the OS? I'll end up having to do that myself - if someone can point me to a link, that would be helpful. There does not appear to be an automated way to do it.

The machine itself seems to be pretty well out fitted: 6 core processor, 64 gigs of RAM, Dual AMD FirePro D700 graphics processors with 6GB of GDDR5 VRAM each, single SSD drive.

I want to send 5 separate video signals (plus control monitor) and also use 1 live video input.

      Thanks for your help!

      Hugh

I'm writing this to you from a Trashcan running Mojave and I've got a second Trashcan running Big Sur under my desk.

        Best wishes,

I personally updated one of the two trashcans from El Capitan to Mojave. There are instructions in this article in the section "How to install an update to macOS in High Sierra or earlier" on how to update that generation of macOS to a newer version.

Also, though El Capitan is not officially within our list of supported operating systems, Isadora 3.1.1 might work fine on it. My laptop was running Isadora 3.0.8f12 on El Capitan without any problems. Testing is key though. Ask them to boot up the machine and hop on a zoom call with you so that you can remote access the machine through zoom in order to install Isadora 3.1.1 and make sure everything works alright.
