Epoccam Feature Requests for Kinoni?
-
My 2c. 1) Video resolution. We can do 720p video or even 1080p video. What are your requirements for video resolution, it is the higher the better? HD resolution also require more wireless bandwidth to be transmitted. The more options the better. There are times in Isadora when I don't need more then 320 x 180. Other times I'll use 720x 480. . . 2) USB-support. While Apple does not officially support transferring data over USB for third-party applications we have found a way to do this. Compared to WiFi USB has lots more bandwidth, but being plugged to cable means camera is next to Mac. Yes. Plugging it may well desirable in some situations. 3) 60 frames per second capture. There are also rumors next iPhone could do 120 frames per second capture. Would it make any sense use have these high-fps videos in Isadora? Very much so, yes.

It has taken like forever but finally we have a Mac OS X beta-version with Syphon support. Sorry about slow progress. You can download the app from http://www.kinoni.com/EpocCamSyphon.zip
Any feedback is welcome. Next step for us is adding multiple cameras, that should be matter of weeks - not months. -
Thank you, but I cant get it working on iPhone 4 IOS7.0.3 and OS 10.9
-
@feinsinn:
Ouch. What exactly is the issue? No connection? We are testing exactly the same setup OS X 10.9 and iOS 7.0.3\. In fact we are using our latest iOS app that is currently in App Store review and available later this week. But that should make no difference I guess.I forgot to mention that app should work on OS X 10.7 Lion and later, probably not on OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. -
Works great for me on OS X 10.9 and iOS 7.0.3. But unfortunately if the computer is connected to the same network via cable it does not work, it has to be on WiFi.
Then downloaded the EpoCam HD version and after a few seconds (varies 10-30 seconds) the EpoCam Viewer Syphon app on the Mac stops showing the incoming video and says "searching network ...". Closing the iPhone app and reopening it gets the connection back for 10-30 seconds. This doesn't happen with the free EpoCam iPhone app.Best

I'm unable to get mine working on Windows since the latest update. I've been in touch with Kinoni, but haven't heard when there might be a fix. Too bad, I was planning to use it for a show next week!
Cheers,
Hugh

@Kinoni I use also Epoc Cam HD. The same like Michel: "searching network ..."
-
@Kinoni @feinsinn
With the Epoc Cam HD update that appeard in the ios app store today the "searching network ..." problem seams to be solved.

hm, updated, but still the same "searching network..." in the EpocCam Viewer Syphon, after one minute i get a message on the side: epoc cam hd for ios7 is connected video size 1280 720, but its stays black in the viewer syphon

i'm seeing a green screen in the live capture settings window when selecting epoccam. two days ago when i first installed the drivers the epoccam worked.
i've uninstalled and reinstalled and still a green screen. -
@particlep
That's true, also for me, with the drivers you can download from their website, but did you download the new app from the link he has posted here?

i had not.i have now. all connected up very quickly. seeing the occasional freezing of the stream, not for long and soon back to stream.i hope the drivers can be sorted out as when i tested the epoccam through isadora's live capture settings i felt that the stream was much more robust. -
-
My Facetime camera has now stopped working... directly after installing the drivers. Hmmmmm.
-
also my webcam stops working after the install.
-
I had to shut down and restart - solved it.
-
I updated the app too, a couple of days ago, hoping it would solve my problems, but it has not. I get a grey screen with the occasional flicker, like static, of an image. Sounds a lot like the green screen thing, above. I'm on Windows 7.
Cheers,
Hugh

Everyone, thanks for all the comments. I was locked down in basement for a week to implement multi-camera support. It is now basically working, some work still to do but now we can export four 720p HD streams to Syphon simultaneously. We had to modify iOS client code for multi-cam support, meaning there will be another iOS "Syphon camera" app available soon. For that we can implement multi-camera, USB-support, OSC messages and other features relevant to Isadora users.
@feinsinn: are you using iPhone 4? That device seems to cause issues with iOS 7\. Surely the app should work on all supported devices, we are currently investigating the issue. Your webcam stopped working after installing the Syphon app or our previous OS X drivers?@particlep: Did I understand correctly that video stream is more robust through Isadora than our app window? Even if they use the very same source for video.@Skulpture: Did you install our Syphon app? That is just an ordinary application, hard to see how could it interfere with webcam drivers.@CitizenJoe: What device / iOS version are you using? As said above we are aware of some iPhone 4 issues. If you have some other device, it could be a different issue. -
Hi @Kinoni a quick restart and it was all fine. May not have been related or it was just a fluke.
I have been testing it on and off all week with the Syphon. Very good app and I am going to give it a mention on my blog/website for sure :) -
yes. the one time the stream worked via the isadora live capture settings window the video feed was faultless. when i used the app (as the live capture settings window was green screening) i saw momentary freezing of the stream.this to me suggests that it's a reception not broadcast originated issue.many thanks for working with us to get your great app working with isadora.
