      Hello all,

I'm on the way to upgrade my Mac Pro quad-core 3.2 for a new project.
I actually have a ATI Radeon 5870 with 1 GB and I'm wondering which is the best GC for Izi ?
      ATI or NVIDIA ?
With 10.8.x it is possible to use a PC card without flashing it.
      (For the french reader: http://www.macbidouille.com/articles/481/page1)
Is anybody have an input on that subject?
My needs are to be able to use a main monitor and to have 2-3 stages.
      Thanks
      Loïc

        Any inputs ?

I'm really need to choose between a GeForce GTX 680 Mac Edition with 2GB or a Sapphire HD7950 3GB GDDR5 Mac Edition.
AMD or Nvidia what is the best ?
        Thanks
        Loïc

          Dear Loïc,

I wish I could offer an opinion, but I don't really know which is better. Anyone else?
          Best Wishes,

Will you ever use this computer for applications other than Isadora? For Isadora it shouldn't make a huge difference but if you will ever want to use the computer for editing, rendering, 3D work, etc it can make a huge difference.

              So I had to choose,

              I just buy the Nvidia one, 1 DVI-I, 1 DVI-D, 1 DP, 1 HDMI.
I'm running on 10.9.1 and preparing a 3 month show.
              It's rock solid.

Good choice. Its a better all-round card. Nvidia's GPU technology is used with a variety of video post production software from all of the Adobe CS products to AVID Media Composer to Davinci Resolve. In my experience, the hot game cards (like your 680) work very well.

                Isadora 4.0.2, W11 PRO 13700K (in a 4U case), 128GB RAM, 4 Lane M.2 Storage, RTX 3090, Ultraleap Motion 2, Behringer UMC404HD audio interface, Streamdeck XL, Streamdeck+, KorgNano Kontrol2.
