      Hi Mark,

I disabled all the QC plugins but still no camera.  I tried with 1.3.1 as well as 1.3.0f24.  :(

Try deleting the preferences. Instructions are here: http://troikatronix.com/support/kb/delete-isadora-preferences/

Also you must ensure that any apps that might take control of the camera (iChatAV, Skype, Photo Booth, etc.) are closed. Only one app can use the camera at the same time.

Would this just a problem for MacBook Air (11")?

Tried with other cameras (webcam & an old Panasonic DV camera), no problem.  So it's just a problem with FaceTime HD Camera in MBA!

Weird. I'll need to keep looking into this. I'm sorry for the problem. (Please file a bug report by following the instructions at this link to ensure I keep track of this.)

P.S. Does anyone else with a Mac Book Air have this problem?

Yes, I have the same problem. I just got a new MacBook Air 13", "mid 2013", 1,3Ghz i5. FaceTime HD Camera:
                    Modell-ID:    Apple Camera VendorID_0x106B ProductID_0x1570

The facetime-Camera is not showing in Isadora, tried erasing the prefs, restarting, turning off QC. Using isadora core 1.3.0f24 AND 1.3.1f06 (btw great release!)

I have had this problem for years.

It's been quite stable on my latest machine but i've found my iSight has dropped in and out of my Live Capture list since about 2008.
I am positive it's not an Isadora issue. I think its some crazy Quicktime thing.

i have recently upgraded to a new 15" MBP retina - and i cannot access the isight from live capture settings. scanning for new devices even caused a crash. isight is available to photobooth, i haven't put anything else on there yet that i could use to test with.

                        (latest izzy pre-release, btw)

                          Do you have Quartz Files?

                              Dear Dbini,

This seems to be an ongoing problem. I'm sorry to say I have no solution, because I don't have the newest retina. I am a little unsure how to proceed without buying one, but I've got so much other stuff on my plate with the new version, it's hard for me to focus on this.
One question: if you use QuickTime Player **7** (not X) do you see the iSight as an option in the Preferences?

                                Hello,
I've got the latest MBP retina (Late 2013) and same problem with the iSight camera... It doesn't work in Izzy, neither in Modul8.
QuickTime Player 7 and X both recognize the iSight / FaceTime camera.
I hope this can help, best wishes.

                                    Hi: from http://mactaris.blogspot.fr/2013/07/webcam-settings-20-will-support.html

The FaceTime HD Camera on MacBook Air 2013 is very different from any previous iSight or FaceTime camera.

Except for the first FireWire iSight, every built-in camera Apple installed on their Mac is a USB camera. Most of the external USB camera we can find on the market follows UVC (USB Video Class) specification and can be used on the Mac without any extra driver. Before MacBook Air 2013, Apple also use UVC camera on MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac and Cinema Display.

Secrets of FaceTime HD Camera on MacBook Air 2013

The new camera can produce 720P (1280 x 720) video stream in uncompressed format (Y'CbCr 4:2:2 - uyvy) at 30 FPS. This represents a tremendous amount of data transmitting from the camera to host computer. It is beyond the bandwidth of a USB 2.0 Bus. Other webcam manufacturers overcome this issue by transmitting in a compressed format - usually Motion JPEG or H.264. A compressed format means reduced image quality, added cost to the compression hardware on the camera and added processing time and CPU power on both the camera and host computer.

Apple choose another way to overcome this issue, they connect the camera through a faster Bus. No, not USB 3.0, USB 3.0 webcams are rare and maybe not cost effective as of today. Instead, Apple connects the new camera through PCIe bus.

The funny thing is this camera declares itself as a Broadcom PCI device with PCI vendor ID 0x14E4 not with Apple PCI vendor ID 0x106B.

                                    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4552
                                    Hope this help, best

                                        Dear @alex,

I do have something that will allow you to get the camera on the retina, but there are also several bugs associated with it. (E.g., you can't use more than one camera.) I am working on this and should have it in the next couple of weeks, but if you urgently need to get the FaceTime camera into Isadora, and are OK with working with a buggy version, please PM me and I'll send you a like. I don't want to put up this link publicly until I work out the bugs.
                                        Best Wishes,
