        Well it sounds like its done as we know it, but new 'versions' are being developed.
        I don't think we have seen the end of this tech. Might be a good time to pick one/more up though if you have projects coming up that could use them.

          Hi,

          It is interesting that Microsoft have re-evaluated and discontinued the Kinect for Xbox at a similar time that Apple have announced a depth camera in a forthcoming iOS device (iPhone 10) - although Apple's face tracking IR camera may not provide the range that is useful for stage and installation projects. I would have thought that there might be a whole range of general purpose depth cameras that become available for 3D scanning of large objects etc. - but perhaps not? It appeared to take a long time for Apple to come up with a device after buying out and taking over the PrimeSense depth camera back in 2013.
