SD input/output on Mac Pro 3.1 Early 2009
-
Hello group !
Been searching forums and web and i'm a more confused than before so i ask here. Maybe somebody have the same setup as i have. Sorry in advance if i ask already answered questions.
----> I'm looking for a decent quality SD SVIDEO analog input gadget to send video from Panasonic MX50 mixer to Isadora and outputting Isadora to MX50 at the same time.
My setup is Mac Pro 3.1 Early 2009 NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800 and NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 El Capitan 10.11.6. 32GB Ram. SSD drives.
I found those boxes on Ebay that do HDMI to SD composite and SD to HDMI but not sure if i can trust them and rather want SVIDEO to composite as quality is a bit better.

What you think about Blackmagic Design Intensity Shuttle https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c...
With a USB 3 PCIe card like this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/25260...
I also looked at all those Blackmagic mini converters but there all SDI. Is there a cheap way to convert SDI to SD BNC for the MX50 ?

Hope everything is clear with my english.

Hi @boristractor ,
I've bought something really similar (or same?) to that some years ago https://fr.aliexpress.com/item...
I was using it with small crappy cameras, so I can't really tell for the quality, but latency was pretty low... Considering the price, I would give it a shot ;)

Hi,
I would go for a Decklink intensity pro ( pci-x version ), if you have an available port in your macpro.
I've been using them for years, they are ok.
Much lower latency than with any usb3 solution.
They come with a breakout cable that has a composite input.
Fully recognised by Isadora.
Best,
Mehdi

The Blackmagic Design Intensity Shuttle has S-Video, component, composite, and HDMI as inputs (and outputs), and offers the native drivers in Isadora.
Might be an option, but I don't believe it can do both input and output at once. -
I still use my old Canopus to input SD content through a firewire connection.

I gotta say, I've never tried to output through it - haven't seen it show up as an option in OSX outputs, though it has outputs on one side.
