Controlling a robot made from Phidgets stepper motor controller

Has anyone used Isadora to control stepper motors via the Phidgets stepper unipolar controller? The Phidgtets web site has many software options and support for control; Apple Script, C/C++, Max MSP, Cocoa, Flash AS3, Flex AS3, Java, LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, Ruby, Visual Basic.net, Visual Basic 6.0. But none for Isadora, directly.
Would a MaxMSP patch be the best way to get Isadora to talk to the stepper controller?
Has anyone out there done this before?
