[ANSWERED] NDI watcher resolution issue in 3.0.8 on older mac OS's
dbengali last edited by DusX
I have discovered an issue with NDIWatcher on Isadora 3.0.8 on some Mac operating systems. Seen on both Mojave and Sierra on intel macs: NDI watcher limits maximum resolution dimension to 640 px and scales the other dimension proportionally. So e.g. if you send 1920x1080 you only get 640x360. If you send 1280x1280, you get 640x640, etc. Also, if you send resolutions larger than 640 in either dimension, NDI playback becomes very stuttery / low frame rate.
On Big Sur (with otherwise same computer specs), these issues do not appear. On Mojave and Sierra, using NDI Watcher with isadora 3.0.7 also does not have these issues. It seems to be a combination of 3.0.8 with the older OS, but is enough to prevent using 3.0.8 for a project with NDI input on these computers.

Thank-you for the report.
We will try to reproduce your findings on our test systems, and document the issue so that it can be fixed for a future release.

As you can see in this thread, this issue came up before and was solved by v0.9.9 which was posted in that thread.
It was my mistake not to update the Add Ons page, which I've done this morning.
Please download this latest version. I believe it will solve your issue.

Hello, still same problem on a Macbook pro 2015 running Mojave and 3.0.8 . Using last version of plugin.
Only 640x360, back to normal resolution with version 3.0.7...

@mark many apologies for this extremely late response. I got caught up in tech and then no longer had access to the systems where i was running into this.
Current tests with Mojave and the latest NDI Watcher 1.0.1 -
NDI 4 Watcher 1.0.1 on Mojave Isadora 3.0.8 reports correct resolution
NDI 5 Watcher 1.0.1 on Mojave Isadora 3.1.1 reports correct resolution
in brief test, all is working as hoped!
thanks so much
