We are pleased to announce Isadora 3.1, which is compiled to run natively on Apple silicon (ARM/M1) and Intel-based Macs, is in beta for macOS Monterey, and now offers the ability to stream to online services like YouTube and Twitch.

Both Mac and Windows users will find numerous improvements and bug fixes in this update. You can read about them all in the Isadora 3.1 Release Notes. This update, which is free for all Isadora 3 users, is available from our website now.

Live Streaming from Isadora To YouTube, Twitch, Facebook and More

We're also very excited to announce the new RTMP Streamer actor, which allows you to stream video and audio directly from Isadora to services like YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, and many others. Advanced options, allowing you to take control of your audio-video quality, make the RTMP streamer actor perfect for integration into a variety of broadcast pipelines. In just minutes you can go live and reach a global audience. This new actor, which is compatible with Isadora 3.1 and later, is available from our Add-Ons page now.

      macOS Monterey

We've spent our summer doing all we can to ensure that Isadora 3.1 is compatible with the Monterey public beta. That said, Monterey is not final at the time of this release. So, for any mission-critical work we recommend that you hold off on upgrading in case late-breaking changes in Monterey require us to release a "hot fix" update.

      The Roadmap - What's Next

We knocked off two items from our previous road map: an ARM (M1) native version of Isadora and the ability to live stream from Isadora to YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, etc. We also got ahead of the game by putting a lot of energy into macOS Monterey as soon as a beta was available.

Now we'll turn our focus to the items below, some of which are actually working for us but not quite ready for release. Here's what's on our plate:
      • New optimizations and improvements to the movie playback engines
      • Vastly improved Capture Stage to Movie functionality on Windows
      • Multichannel audio routing in the Movie Player actor (as seen in the Sound Player in v3.0.8)
      • A powerful new system for messaging between Actors, Scenes, and Controls, including the ability to bundle multiple data values into a single stream
      • Python scripting support

We're putting all of our energy into bringing these improvements to you as soon as humanly possible.

We look forward to seeing what you create with Isadora!

      Best Wishes,
      The TroikaTronix Team

@mark I clicked on the link to download the beta and it takes me to the 'Get it' page but I don't see the beta download option. Am I missing something?

What we're saying about Monterey is that the current release (3.1.1) is to be considered "in beta" for Monterrey. We are not offering a separate beta.

I got into some detail about this in this recent forum post.

            Best Wishes,
