[ANSWERED] MIDI V4EX ISADORA
-
Hi Dear Izzy users
I am hoping that someone has encountered the thing i am trying to do and might have some words of wisdom or suggestions for me.
I am using a Roland v4ex as a video input into isadora using the Roland to feed Video Synths, DVDs & VHS into Isadora
channel 1 is the output of a Errogenous Tones Structure being Fed VHS
channel 2 is DVD
channel 3 is Critter & Guitari ETC
channel 4 is a Vidiot being fed Kenneth Anger DVD
I would LOVE to control the v4EX with MIDI to call the proper channel without manually switching it and i am hopeful someone may have tried this before!!
currently the V4EX shows up as a video input and works almost perfectly in Izzy 3 on Windows
I want to send MIDI notes to the V4EX to select channels for CUES
i found this

Does the V4 show up as a midi device when connected to the USB?
-
@dusx yes inside IZZY
i think it might be too much with midi AND video so i am thinking about attaching a M-AUDIO uno to the DINs but yes it shows up

MIDI is rather light weight, I don't think you should have any problems sending MIDI commands out to the device from Isadora. If it shows up as a MIDI device in the Isadora MIDI Setup panel (Communications menu), you should only need to select it on a Output Port and then start sending the required values (as outlined in the PDF you linked).

The way i solved it was as i suggested
I Added a M-Audio UNO and connected it to the host computer running isadora
Set the Roland V4 EX to MIDI NOT USB
Sent Program Change messages to the device with
Program 0, 1, 2, 4 for each of the sources
