[ANSWERED] Projector on its side

Hello dear members, I am looking for a small ( and relatively cheap! ) video-projector that could be used on its side, to get a vertical "portrait" image. It should also have a wide angle , around 0,5 to 0,8 and around 4000 lumens minimum... A lot to ask !

I red several video-projector manual that could fit the lumens/focal, and they warn most of the time about using it on their side, as it is  dangerous and out of guaranty in case of trouble...

I found only one that is certified for such use, and it not fit my needs...

Any idea or experience using a ( non certified)  projector like this?

Yes, that's a lot to ask!

The problem with using projectors with any kind of incandescent lamps - Halogen, Xenon, etc - is that the filament of the lamp has to be in a particular orientation. Ususally they're fine to point up and down, but very few projectors will happily sit on their side without overheating or cutting out, or burning out the bulb. Unless the projector specifically states you can use it in portrait mode, you're asking for trouble.

However projectors with a solid light source, AKA Laser Projectors, can work in any orientation. Something like the Optoma ZH406ST would be good for you. Or maybe you can find a second-hand Optoma GT1090HDR. They're both short throw, and 4000 lumens.

Great, thank you very much for your quick and precise answer. I guess laser will be the minimum need for that use, but it should also be indicated by the constructor... I now have to convince the company to spend more than 2000€ for that...

I was also wondering about a mirror combination or a kind of prism stuff that could rotate 90° the projection, but I can't figure it out... :-)
