Hello! I am trying to use my Elgato HD60X for live camera input. I'm using a Canon XF305 (the only thing I can get my hands on at the moment - a loner from another department). The Elgato works with the Canon just fine using the 4k Capture software I downloaded from the manufacturer, but Isadora doesn't recognize the Elgato in live capture input. The only time I've gotten Isadora to recognize it and have it as an option in the dropdown, I also have the Elgato software running, but when the Elgato software is running, I get an error that the "device is in use by other software." Anyone experienced this before or know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

I haven't used that device - I've been using the Cam Link 4K | Elgato on Windows without issue.

They'll need a lot more info to help you, such as MAC/PC, OS, details on the machine, etc., but generally that message means that another piece of software has control of the camera. Perhaps when you test it in the 4k Capture software, you haven't closed it, OR the OS isn't closing it properly?

        Cheers,

        Hugh

Thanks for your help! I saw the camlink option but wanted something a bit more robust and reliable for our live performance, so we went with the HD60x.

I'm on a PC, Lenovo, Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit, 32 Gb, i7 core, Nvidia RTX Quadro T1000 graphics card.

I think you're right - that testing it with the 4k Capture doesn't properly "release" the Elgato - but I did try restarting and going straight to Isadora without the 4k Capture test, and Isadora couldn't recognize the Elgato at all in the drop down menu.

          Thanks again!

Have you tried it in any other Windows applications? Like the Camera app or Zoom? If it works in another application, it should work in Isadora, once the other app releases it. I would also try uninstalling the 4k Capture software, rebooting and trying again, first outside Isadora. Sometimes the built in Windows drivers work better for our purposes. You could also try re-downloading the 4k Capture software and re-installing it, just in case the one you had before is corrupt. After that open a support ticket through the Help page!

            Cheers,

            Hugh

Thanks for your help! I tried it in Zoom and no luck, but it did work in google meets. Then I tried again in Isadora and after some settings management, it worked! I think the 4k Capture software never truly "released" the Elgato - even though I hard-quit and it didn't show in my task manager. But restarting the computer and not touching the 4k Capture app did the trick. Not sure why it doesn't work in Zoom still, but I won't question it for now.

              Thanks again!
