i just noticed that even when looping a 5-second-video with sound, there is always a small gap when the clip start again from the beginng.

Hmmm. . . .Photo-JPEG is normally fairly good with this kind of thing. But the word on the street is that it should now be considered a legacy codec. My first step would be to suggest re-rendering it in the HAP codec and see if this clears up your issue. -Alex

          Hey Alex,
thanks  for your tip. I tried the HAP codec, but unfortunately it doesnt help. Looping the file still has the audio gap.I also tried preloading the file with the prloading actor, but that doesnt help either.

@nikaim  I´m on Mac but i use a simple Toggle Actor to the Volume  for this this kind of Action normally! I could not recognise any Delay so far. Using Mp4 by the way

the toggle actor is exactly, what I am doing in my test-file. And you can also loop the file without having a short audio gap always when the file starts from the beginning?

Both Hap and pjpg use QuickTime for playback, therefore the audio also uses it.
Perhaps recompressing to a Directshow codec will help in that the audio will pay via a new engine.

WMV as a container usually has h264 defaults from editing software (premiere, Ae, etc..)

AVI, can contain many things. Using Cinepak will give performance similar to a pjpeg mov (my experience)
You can see a break down of what is supported by DirectShow here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd407173%28v=vs.85%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
Its important to note, that currently .mp4 as well as the sound formats are handled by Quicktime in Isadora.

                            Hey Ryan,
thanks for your advice. I used avi with the Intel IYUV codec (because i dont have the cinepak codec) and sound is instantly there. Perect!

I just made some more Tests and converted my new videos with mpeg streamclip into "apple cinepak". But unfortunalty the quality is not good, even on 100%. So I will try mp4, or did you have any bad experience with that?

I (almost) ended in unsing apple component video YUV which gives the volumecontrole an instant reaction and the compression looks good on the image. But now I have some jerk (I hope thsi is the right word). Its just not playing perfectly smooth, although the framerate is constantly at 25fps. And since I have very slow camerapans in my video this is very important. Any idea what could work better.

There is a Knowledge Base article about the best way for windows to go: http://troikatronix.com/support/kb/optimizing-for-speed/
**excerpt**: _When running Windows, we recommend using AVI or WMV formats, because these movies will use native Windows routines for playback, as opposed to .mov files which require Apple’s QuickTime. _

so finally avi worked good for me for instanz volume change of a video. But no I want to change the volume of a soundplayer instantly from 0 to 100 and back as well as do slight volumefades. When changing I hear always some short  "audio cracks". Is there any chance to change the volme clean?

Open Quicktime Player, and check its audio setup in preferences.
You likely have a few options there. Depending on your system's audio card, one may be better than the others.
I am using 'Windows Audio Session' and haven't had problems, but you may do better with 'Direct Sound', or 'Safe Mode'.
