[ANSWERED] Rotating 3D object around offset centre
-
Hi everyone,
I'm just starting to work with the 3D Player actor & wondered if anyone knows how to move the centre of rotation? At the moment it seems to be at the 3D object's centre (for rotation x, y and z) - is there any way to offset this so that my shape can rotate in an arc?
thanks!

Hi,
The rotation point is inherited from the 3D model ‘origin’ point. It is therefore possible to change that in 3D modelling software and re-save the mesh with a modified rotation point. There is no option for manipulating the rotation point directly in Isadora.
The other option is to use the 3D Stage Orientation actor. It provides another layer of 3D movement, this time as a viewport/virtual camera. Therefore you can use a combination of rotation settings to create movement in different arcs.
Best wishes

@bonemap brilliant! thanks Russel, I really am a bit lost with 3D. The combination of stage orientation and player controls does the job.
