I know many people use various compositing software to prepare video content. I found this http://natron.inria.fr/ free opensource tool that is really quite good if anyone is looking for an alternative.

To address the issue of setting the compression for Live Video Input: Unfortunately we had to upgrade the system we used when capturing video for Isadora 2.0.5\. The old system (QuickTime) did not work on Retina Mac Book Pros and Mac Book Airs. We upgraded to a more recent system called QTKit, but this system does not offer the ability to change the codec. We simply had no choice to this update, otherwise people with the aforementioned computers could not capture video from their internal web cam.

We have worked around this for the next release, adding a "Force JPEG Capture" button to the Live Capture Settings. So while you won't be able to choose any other codec, at least you can choose to output Photo JPEG.

We are testing through this release now, and will get it out as soon as we can.

That new button will provide a solution that will work in most situations.

yes, you are right! it was a control-assign issue, but it wasn't the Bin: there was a 100 max accidentally left assigned in one of the counter actors.

For OSX users take a look at this

http://troikatronix.com/troikatronixforum/discussion/2178/kinectv2-osx#latest It does not have skeleton data (as far as I know OSX will not get it in any hurry) but it does have depth IR and colour video over syphon and I get 60fps form all streams. I am nearly done adding the point cloud and some more controls. If you are on OSX give it a try and let me know how it goes. It seems to perform pretty well but I did not have any time for extreme testing. Fred

To be a bit more specific: we've addressed this "stage at the beginning of the chain" thing in the current internal build, which is being tested by the team and by a few users we've selected. or build a scene with a listener and projector. map this projector. keep this scene active. output all your other patches into broadcasters instead of projectors.

The reason for the second active scene is it's a game, and it's jumping around many different scenes and the one constant is the blue video loop that is under (background). If I put the loop on the same scene it starts from the beginning every time it enters a new scene.

So this works for me. and it's an easy fix. Thanks

The 'old' effects are cpu based... and many are being ported to GPU. There will be many GPU effects available in a soon to be released version, however; they are not exact clones of the previous cpu effects. I still use the old effects as needed. This purpose is why I requested that the video converter from gpu to cpu include setting the size so that a smaller cpu stream could be easily used along side a gpu stream (I typically 1/2 the size)

Remember there are two areas of Metal, the next ten OpenGL and the GPGPU compute side which has taken over from OpenCL as the preferred compute API on OS X.

Mark gave good reasons why the 3D side of Metal may not be of interest to Izzy users I'd be very surprised if the compute side of Metal wasn't on the radar in the medium to long term. Imagine there not being a distinction between CPU and GPU nodes because everything is executed on the GPU. Windows has a choice of Vulkan and DX10 which also feature 3D and GPGPU Compute in a similar way to Metal. I'm sure it's a lot of work ahead, even for a genius...
