HOTFIX -  v2.2.1] A few issues snuck through the v2.2 release, primarily related to edge blending on multiple stages. Fixes for these bugs (as well as a couple of others) can be found in the current download. The current version is now v2.2.1. Like everyone out there, we were surprised to see the news not only that there were two security flaws in Windows, but that Apple has apparently told Trend Micro that they will deprecate QuickTime for Windows. I know this raises fears in the Windows users of Isadora, so let's take a moment to analyze the situation. As it says a [slashdot](https://apple.slashdot.org/story/16/04/15/0326219/apple-deprecating-quicktime-for-windows-micro-trends-urges-users-to-uninstall), "Usually when a vendor deprecates a software product and stops releasing security updates, they provide some sort of advance notice that they're intending to do so. The least we would expect is for them to announce an unexpected end-of-life themselves." It adds that "Apple told Trend Micro -- but apparently nobody else -- that they have deprecated Quicktime for Windows."  So, It is important to emphasize that no developers we know of, including ourselves, had any advance warming of Apple's intention to deprecate Quicktime. If it is indeed true, this is very disheartening behavior by Apple. Also, we have it on the word of Trend Micro that Apple is discontinuing QuickTime for Windows, but no word from Apple themselves. With regard to the specific security alerts, to be attacked by these requires specific user interaction. Just having QuickTime installed will not, in of itself, make you vulnerable. In the first security alert, [ZDI-16-241](http://zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-16-241/), you have to open a movie (.mov) file that has been crafted by an attacker to do execute arbitrary code. So, in this case, if you are creating your own content, using QuickTime Player, or Premiere or Media Express, you have nothing to worry about from these files. You'd have to receive a .mov file from someone or download it from somewhere else and open it for this attack to happen. In the second alert, [ZDI-16-242](http://zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-16-242/), it says "User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file." So, it would seem that if QuickTime if you don't open files that you do not recognize, you are not at risk. Furthermore, if it would seem to us that if you disable QuickTime in your web browser, that you are not vulnerable in that way. (This is an assumption on my part; I need to do a bit more checking to prove that my assumption is correct here.) Note that in the security alert announcements above, they indicate that you can protect yourself from these threats using the "TippingPoint™ IPS Customer Protection" If you click that link, you'll see that TippingPoint was acquired by TrendMicro. I do not say this to persuade you that the threats above are not real or serious; they are most certainly real. But simply to say, it is in the best interest of TrendMicro to get you worried. So, I would offer this: as it says in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, "Don't Panic."  We will move as quickly as we can to determine our course of action for Isadora for Windows. But we will need a bit of time to calmly evaluate the situation and see what our next steps are. In the meantime, read the security alerts above, pay attention to ways in which you can expose yourself to risk, and avoid those situations as we seek a solution here at TroikaTronix. Otherwise, your only option is to uninstall QuickTime and stop using Isadora until we come up with a solution. Sincerely, Mark Coniglio

While we appreciate your great enthusiasm, please look at carefully the workshop times – don't book yourself into multiple workshops that happen at the same time.

Dear Isadora Community, Thanks to the insight and feedback of our Isadora users, the TroikaTronix team has discovered a critical issue which negatively impacts Isadora's performance under Mac OS X Sierra. The source of this performance issue appears to be an undocumented change in the way Sierra renders Isadora’s user interface text. As a result, projects which use a very large number of actors, or actors which feature many properties (such as the 3D Particle Generator), may experience significant frame rate loss under Sierra when dragging actors or scrolling the user interface. This slowdown is non-existent or negligible if you are not actively editing your patch. While we are aware of the issue and have solutions in the works, a permanent fix for this issue is still under development. Until we have more information from Apple on what exactly is causing this issue, or hopefully a fix from Apple themselves, we strongly recommend Isadora users avoid upgrading their Mac computers to OS X Sierra. At this time, we have not encountered this issue on Yosemite or El Captain. Isadora users working with either OS X 10.10 or 10.11 can and should continue to use these operating systems with confidence. Let me start by wishing you all a happy new year. I hope that 2017 is a prosperous and creative year for all of us that are part of the Isadora community. If all goes according to schedule, next Monday we will go live with the new TroikaTronix website and forum. We are completely switching the forum system, which will be hosted by Freshdesk, the same system we've been using to handle our technical support for some time now. In terms of the forum, this will mean Much better searches that will automatically include all tutorials, knowledge base, items as well as forum posts. A condensed and more focused set of forum categories The ability to upvote forum posts and feature requests A new look that is integrated with the new website If possible, try to avoid using the forum on Saturday January 7 + Sunday January 8th. Any new posts or comments made on these days will not be transferred to the new forum, as Freshdesk needs time to transfer the data we've exported.  I am working out the final details of the switch with Freshdesk, but you can expect to receive an email asking you to activate your account. Your user name (i.e., Skulpture) will remain the same, but you'll need to generate a new password and set your preferences, as these cannot be transferred from the old forum to the new forum. You can also expect the forum to be inaccessible on January 9th and perhaps on January 10th. Logging In
If you had an account on our forum prior to January 25th, 2017, you can use your old login name. Just click "Forgot Password" on the login page and follow the instructions to reset your password and activate your account here. If you joined the forum after January 25th, you'll need to create a new account on this forum.

Customize Your Setup
The first thing you do once you register your account here is to click on your "avatar" icon at the top right and choose "Settings..." You will see that you can customize a number of things, including the "homepage" page which determines what you'll see first when you come back to the forum, and the color scheme or "skin" you will see here. Please take some time to explore the options there to ensure that the system is set up just the way you like. You can also customize your home page not only with a profile picture, but a banner image as well.

Signature Line
Please make sure that your signature line is up to date and includes details about your the computer you most often use to work with Isadora. Having those details available allow the Isadora team and other members of the community to help you more effectively. (Note that we imported the signatures from the old Vanilla Forum, but you cannot have HTML in those signatures. URLs will automatically become links though.)

Navigation with the Toolbar
Using the toolbar at the top, you can choose to how to view the posts: you can choose to see the most recent posts, the most popular posts or to sort posts by tags. Unfortunately, in this transition, we lost the tags on the old forum posts. We're going to see if there's some way to address this, but at this point we'll be starting with a clean slate.

[NEW] About Reputation Points - Please Upvote Posts You Like
This forum has a feature called "reputation points" which get increased when people "upvote" your topics or comments. When your reputation points are zero (which they are for all of us now) you cannot make posts faster than every 60 seconds – this is to prevent spammers from flooding the forum with junk. If you remember a post by someone that was particularly helpful, it would be great if you could go and and upvote it now to increase their reputation points.

[NEW] Online Chat
You can now initiate a chat with any users who are online directly in the forum! Just click on their avatar icon; then click the icon with the three vertical dots on the right and choose "Start Chat With XXX" to open a chat window. ;-)

[NEW] Follow Specific Users

If you like, you can receive notifications whenever a particular user makes a post. Just click his or her avatar icon to go to their home page, and then click the plus sign on their avatar.

Deleting Posts

One of the complaints about the previous forum was you couldn't delete your posts. You can do this here, but it's a two step process: first you must delete, and then you must choose "Purge" to actually remove it. (This is because the system we're using has option to allow only administrators only to fully remove [i.e., purge] posts.)

Posts Between Jan. 25 and Mar. 17 2017
As I've pointed out previously, we were unable to find a way to move discussions created between January 25th and March 13th to this new forum without adding further weeks of delay. Researching which forum would best server our needs and preparing everything so we could go live already took some time. So we made the decision to move forward, even though we'd lose those posts. (Note that you can, for the next few days anyway, still access your discussions them by going to https://troikatronix.freshdesk... - but please don't post there!)

I and the team hope that this new forum will give you everything you missed over the last few week and a whole lot more that you'll love. We'll continue to listen to your comments and ideas to ensure we make this forum "insanely great."

FWIW, we discovered that if you have a thread with a 20 or more entries in it, the editor window would go offscreen. The programmers are working on it.

In addition,, there is an issue with uploading files that appeared only when we made the site live. We're working on that too.

Please help make your upload links clear by putting each on a new line or by separating them in some way.

If you just click the upload button, upload file 1, click the upload button, upload file 2, etc. you'll end up with something that reads like this:

file1.zipfile2.iuafile3.izz

This makes it nearly difficult (if not impossible) to distinguish each separate file. So hit the return key after you upload each file, so each link will be on a separate line, like this:

file1.zip
file2.iua
file3.izz

Or else separate them with some spaces (at least) or other characters to make the links clear. For instance, something like this:

file1.zip | file2.iua | file3.izz
