Jared Mezzocchi has been systematically exploring what Zoom and the editing program Isadora can offer theatre practitioners during the pandemic. He has been working in the field for over a decade and has explored it from multiple points of view—designer, director, playwright, artistic director. As a theatre educator, he launched an MFA program at University of Maryland in projection design, and he recently designed and co-directed Russian Troll Farm, the highly acclaimed Zoom theatre production. We Zoomed in November to talk about the production, how to reverse-engineer Zoom, Isadora as the way forward, and more."

Thanks! The secret to why this works is SRT. By ensuring that lost packets are retransmitted and inserted back in order, I can reliably transport a data stream without jitter. This is why the lighting controls can work reliably; dropping some packets does not result in missing DMX frames.
It seems a lot of you are having trouble with the "reply" function and/or not being able to post after composing a reply. We're not really sure what's going on with this yet. It's strange because we upgraded to NodeBB some time ago, and yet it is only in the last couple of weeks that people have reported problems.
The workaround right now is to clear your cookies for the the forum and empty the cache on your browser.
Based on a user question in the forum, I've just publish a new Knowledge Base article entitled "Keeping Global User Actors In Sync When Collaborating" – primarily to remind users that, if you have a Isadora show document that contains User Actors stored in the Global User Actor Folder, those User Actors will be automatically updated to match the Global User Actor Folder version when the file is opened.
This article is for you if you are a designer that uses Global User Actors, and you share your Isadora files with a theater technician who might make modifications that you need to keep in sync.
@woland I know that this is ways back but how well is isadora working in emulation mode. I'm thinking of picking up a mac mini as a quick throw in a bag fast deployment machine with a decent array of ports, but I'm a bit concerned that performance will be an issue untila native version of isadora rolls around, my current project is mostly running a whole bunce of inputs from usb capture devices (and occasionally recording them) is the emulation going to get in my way?
The Isadora v3.1.1 "hot fix" release addresses a drawing issue and a crash that affected some users in the v3.1 release. If you installed Isadora v3.1, then please install this update right away from our Get It page.
If you are running macOS 12.x (Monterey) or Windows 11 and would like to give us feedback on Isadora's performance on these new operating systems, please open a new support ticket asking to take part in our beta testing program.
Personally, I'd also like to stress this part of the message.
