Motion Control Particles (e-motion software)
-
Thanks so much particlep and lazandre!
I've got newest build of eMotion up and running with TUIOpad thanks to your help and tutorials.I am going to be composing music and producing a show for our local professional ballet company next year and hoping to integrate eMotion, motion capture, Isadora and Ableton Live.I've got some fun investigation and experimentation ahead of me! -
Hmmmm.
My eMotion 0.7.1 suddenly throws a 'this version out of date' at startup and shuts down. Is this happening to anybody else?I got excited for a second thinking maybe there was an update but I am not seeing one anywhere. -
i too have the date thing. i've seen this before. i tried downloading again and got the same out of date thing.
[smartalec](/troikatronixforum/profile/7415/smartalec) i've emailed the contact address re the out of date thing and put a link to this thread and the tutorial playlist i made last year and requested any information.i think in the short term we simply have to wait and see what they come back with or keep an eye on the website http://www.am-cb.net/emotionfor any updates.sorry i can't offer any more at this time. -
Set you computer clock back to 2014 and it should work.
-
I've changed the title of this thread ever so slightly to reflect the general topic of e-motion. :)
-
Thanks all. @vanakaru setting the clock back worked.
-
Heh - just came across same problem on every system I work on. Panicked tilI came here! /me wanders off to set clock back

Just got a reply back from Adrien M....
"Thanks for your message,A new release is available, you can download it there : [am-cb.net/doc/eMotion.zip](http://am-cb.net/doc/eMotion.zip)It will work until 2015/06/01, then you’ll need to download a new version. Please notice that eMotion is an experimental project and is provided as it is, for non-commercial use only.best,Adrien" -
The new one does not open on OS X 10.6.8. -
Please notice that eMotion is an experimental project and is provided as it is, for non-commercial use only.
What a shame, that's killed my interest and presumably is a fly in the ointment for a lot of users here. Maybe they'd be up for a paid version or a donation for commercial use. -
I would pay for a commercial version
-
New version worked fine for me on OS X 10.10.1
I guess by fine I mean it opened and I did not get the error message. It is still quite buggy and crashes often so not really an option for dependable live performance.I am not complaining as it is offered as a free download. I would say that a further developed version would certainly seem to fill a niche for interactive projections and I would buy it.Anybody know of any other options similar to eMotion? Can we do that type of interaction in Izzy?Suppose I may have to go back to cobbling together Processing code if not... -
the adrien m and claire b company have grown considerably. looking at their website they now have a team in place and lots of shows this year.
i've downloaded version 0.7.6 and found an issue with the render window.have emailed for help. -
On their website is written 0.7.1 as latest download. Also my About is greyed out, so I am not sure what version is now on my system. After I made the upgrade, I cant make a grid anymore as I could before.
-
i'm also seeing a shift on the am-cb website. there is a programme of performances http://www.am-cb.net/agenda/calendrier/ and members of a team now. i wonder if we might have to wait a while for a stable version of emotion to be available.
i have to admit to thinking that if they aren't ready for emotion to be played with by other interested parties that possibly the programme should't be available to play with ... just a thought ... -
eMotion is not stable unfortunately. They seem to be happy only using it for themselves so no one else can duplicate the results. I came across Z-Vector recently which looks great. Created by the NI-Mate group with Syphon compatibility. Free trial version for Mac / Windows.
-
Be careful with Delicode at the moment. Updates aren't forthcoming. I have multiple issues with Z-Vector running on an AMD based Macbook Pro - it simply won't work, and their support simply reply with "we don't support Yosemite at this time". NI-Mate has issues controlling a generation of Kinects because Delicode haven't updated their code in eons, despite their docs saying that this specific version is the best one to use. In all, a few hundred pounds dropped on software that simply doesn't function anymore depending on the age of your hardware and the version of OS you're running, which has caused me to have to rewrite several entire shows that previously depended on their software to interface with multiple Kinect cameras.
eMotion isn't licensed for any commercial use, hence you won't see a great deal of progress or support on it either sadly. -
The guys are Delicode are aware. Ni-Mate V2 is currently with a bunch of beta testers.
I can't comment on Z-Vector though. -
Havent updated to Yosemite, because of this. A lot of software I use Isnt approved for Yosemite

Fortunately Apple have been ramping up their patent portfolio in the area of devices suspiciously like Kinect and Leap in recent months so with a bit of luck we'll have a native solution before long.
