      @artoo

Can help me by doing the following:

      1) Open the Console (found in Applications > Utilities)
      2) Click the "Clear Display" button
      3) Startup Isadora
      4) Let it run until it crashes
      5) Click the view where the messages appear.
      6) Choose Edit > Select All
      7) Choose File > Save Selection As...
      8) .zip the result and put it here

I want to analyze that to see if it tells me something.

      Thanks in Advance,
      Mark

          @artoo + Everyone

Thank you so much for the help!

There are hundreds of crashes happening per second... as shown by "Too many crashes in rapid succession! No crash report being written for pid XXXXX"

If you go to /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports do you see ending in ".crash" for IzzyMoviePlayer64 or IzzyMoviePlayer32? (Must end with .crash to be useful.)

If you see those crash files, .zip two or three and send them to me.

But also, for everyone here: there seems to be a pattern that the only people having trouble are on Mac Pro machines. If you have a machine like that, and are willing to let me access it via Team Viewer for an hour, please send me a PM here.

          Best Wishes,
          Mark

I have a Mac Pro with Teamviewer. Give me about 15 minutes to set her up with a monitor and power and she's all yours all day via Teamveiwer if you like. Hell, I don't have a show on at the moment, so you can have TeamViewer access for however long you need it. She's also on El Capitan, not High Sierra, which I gather might be a good thing for these tests. I'll email you the Teamviewer info once I have her set up.

                Best wishes,

                        Dear All,

If anyone is game to give a new build a try, I'd really appreciate it. So far I've tested this one on 10.9, 10.10 and 10.12. I'll soon test it on 10.11. It seems solid, but more feedback is always welcome.

Mark fixed the continuous crashes issue in the v2.6.1b3. this problem was about Hap codec and Mavericks system...as far as I understand...

to all users under osX 10.9 and osX 10.10: those systems will not be supported in the next realeases of isadora so it's definitivly time to forget them and to upgrade to siera or high siera.(i know it's hard to admit...)

                              thank you again Mark.

Well, 10.9 for sure. We'll see about 10.10. As I told you privately, AVFoundation can't play HAP under 10.9, which was the source of your particular problem because you were running 10.9. One thing that's annoying about Mac OS is that the take things away from the operating system, unlike Windows, where operating system functions from Windows 3.1 _still_ work. In any case, we have to keep moving forward.

The main thing that _everyone_ has to understand (not just about Isadora) is that the next macOS (10.14) will not run 32-bit applications. That's going to affect a lot of apps beyond Isadora, which also means absolutely no more QuickTime. So everyone should prepare keep this in mind.

                                Best Wishes,

                                  Dear All,

The team and I have continued to test the 2.6.1b3 build. Thanks to @Michel and @Woland, I got access to two Mac Pros remotely – one with 10.12 and the other with 10.11. The 10.12 has been playing four movies continuously (2 x HAP and 2 x MP4) for hours now, and nothing bad has happened. (Of course, I can't turn off the internet since I'm accessing them remotely. Hopefully Michel and Woland can try this themselves tomorrow)

Of course, I didn't take the time to run the same patch on 2.6 (the public release) though I can totally sure it would crash when playing HAP movies because of the memory leak.

For any of you reading this: if you have a patch that you can run for an hour while you're doing something else (we all gotta eat, right?) it would certainly be appreciated by us if you downloaded v2.6.1b3 and gave it a go.

I'm calling it a night for now. @mc_monte and @DusX are still running tests.

@mark i  installed the beta 0b3 in the art space where we premiere on sunday. mac mini and sierra crash after 15min max. for now i just stick to the v2.2.2  which is slow, but stable on their computer.

and as said 2.6 on my macbook pro high sierra works great!

Certainly your report about this is worrying. Are you saying that the same patch running on your MBP crashes or the mini Mac? Or was it a different patch. Is the patch running on the mini Mac complex, or something we could easily recreate?

Can you get a crash report for from the mini Mac? We haven't' had any crashes with the latest beta, which is b04... that crash report would help me understand what's going wrong.

I am running a test since 2 hours on a MacMini (mid 2011) with 8GB RAM. Playing 3 movies crossfading from scene to scene. No problem up to now.

@mark thanks for your effort, i really appreciate that, as you created a great new version of isadora. first things first. i create the file on my macbook pro. at the moment in version 2.2.2. (its the exact same actors, not even including any video, only lights through dmx king. only there i can save it because the mac mini is only in demo mode! i have only yet seen the new beta,(sorry for that) and there is no internet in the art space can i still get a crash report? i will try with beta 04 tomorrow!

@Michel i don't even have any video! only lights via matrix send and dmx king.5 channels :(

@mark @michel and i don't know if this is important information. isadora 2.2.2 takes 2.5 minutes to start up!
