A collection of resources for learning about Control Panels in Isadora:

Our Isadora 101 Control Panel Youtube Tutorial is the best place to start. Here's a much longer, in-depth recorded Control Panel-focused livestream by Mark Coniglio, the creator of Isadora. The Isadora 4 Manual (current version at the time of writing this is from October 2024) covers the Control Panel in various places:Basic explanation of Control Panels on pages 184-198 (this needs to be updated but is still good information).Set Control Focus Actor is covered on page 718.Show-Hide Control actor is covered on pages 725-726Here's a Show-Hide Control actor example file. You can also dissect the complex logic that makes the IzzyCast Basic Template Files' Control Panel act like a full-on application with different views, settings panels, previews, etc.Controls Reference Section on pages 829-887YouTube Mini TutorialsSearching for Actors and Controls Control IDsShow Value of Linked PropertiesShowing and Hiding the Control PanelCopying Controls between Control PanelsScene Select ControlList Selector Control and the accompanying example fileFiles to look at:The general Isadora Examples files has different Scenes with various Control Panels. My simple show file exampleMy global projection mapping fileMy Scene-based cue text example fileMy Scaling Isadora Example FileMy Color Tracking Isadora Example FilesMy Simple Q Control ExampleMy MIDI Show Control Scene-Navigation & Cueing SystemMy CONTROLS Scene and Set/Get Global Values (HSL Adjust) ExampleMany of my example files on the TroikaTronix Add-Ons Page have Control Panels. Many of the official TroikaTronix example files on the TroikaTronix Add-Ons Page have Control Panels.Lastly, if you want some live help, I personally hold a free 1-hour Isadora Lab via the professional AV community Office Hours Global. The lab is open to anyone (not just AV professionals) and is held via Zoom every Thursday from 7pm-8pm CET (since I'm in Berlin, Germany). Sometimes I help people with projects, sometimes I teach people more about Isadora, and sometimes I teach people about Isadora from scratch. What I do during any given lab is determined by who shows up and what they'd like and I enjoy teaching Isadora to people and helping them with projects regardless of their level of experience with Isadora. It's not in the Control Panel, but Isadora also has a Cue Sheet function:

      @DusX

Thank you for your detailled answer, it was a valuable help for me. In fact, the use of the routing widget produces the correct input string, and you can see the correct syntax.

As a gadget I enclose a user actor that uses the routing input to send an audio signal in a round through 4 speakers. The input value "seconds" determines the duration of the signal on one speaker. For example, n input of 1 second results in a sound loop of 4 seconds , Sounds nice!

      Cheers, gunther

Another staple User Actor, especially for cases like this, is what I call a "Delay Gate"; a User Actor with a Gate that initializes off, then turns on shortly after. I use these all over the place to 'eat' unwanted triggers that generate upon entering a Scene because sometimes they're unavoidable (and sometimes it's just faster for me to throw one of these inline to eat a trigger that I don't want because it's faster than spending the time to examine everything upstream to determine where the trigger is coming from). For example, I use Delay Gates with Comparator actors and Text Comparator actors when I have their 'compare' mode set to 'Always' because you'll always get a true or false trigger out of those actors when you enter a Scene in that mode.

      delay-gate-user-actors.zip

These are not entirely relevant, but here's a couple other groups of simple User Actor 'tools' that I find myself using quite often:

      thru-user-actors.zip

      mutator-user-actors.zip

      deadman-x27-s-user-actors.zip

I hope you don't mind me bumping this thread

I don't mind the thread necromancy at all because I always love getting updated gear recommendations.

For the record, @Juriaan was totally right; the way to go if you need POE is to have a decent router (which doesn't need to support POE) for creating the network and then connect that to a decent switch which does support POE. For the most part I've been using POE for PTZ cameras from manufacturers like Birddog and Sony.

Unfortunately I don't have the make and model numbers handy of what I ended up going with, but I've used this configuration in quite a few different venues since I originally posted this thread.

      Hello my fellow Isadorables,

Anyone in the region of Bochum, Germany next Thursday, 18 September, is invited to come and see Natalie Inside Out, the product of my long collaboration with Handstand Maestro Natalie Reckert. We've done it in English, we've done it in French, and now it's the German Language premiere of the show. Lots of fun to be had 'cause Natalie is German.... and I don't speak it at all except for this:  Ich bin ein Berliner!

The show's at 2030 at Prinzregent Theatre, Bochum.

Tickets are on sale from 15 September. If you want to come, get in touch. I have a couple of comps. Say hello afterwards! The whole show is powered by Isadora, and we wring just about every drop of blood from her to make this technical and acrobatic spectacular sparkle!

      That works perfectly!

I guess I was clicking on the quad instead of its checkbox, trying to add an OSC control.

@reload2024 Yup, managing EDID is fun. The high-end media servers (disguise, Pixera, GreenHippo) all manage these with additional hardware and software (one company uses a mini Raspberry Pi hidden away in their cases just to manage EDID).

It sounds like you need/should keep the Mosaic on then. I would use the tools within Isadora to achieve what you need. Might be worth making a template to map out the outputs - if that makes sense? All you are doing really is managing the pixels and where they go. Keep us posted, happy to help if/when I can.

This Sunday (14/09/2025) we will be performing a new dance show in Cologne, Oulu and online. Mycelial Threads has been made using Izzycast to link studios in Finland and Germany. I've made telemetric performances before, using VDO.ninja and OBS, or screen-capturing AV feeds into Isadora and using Syphon Virtual Webcam to get the results out to other venues via Zoom or ninja. But this time, all that is being handled by Izzycast, which has kept the workflow simple and stable, and enabled me to do more complex routing with video and audio - with the added benefit of data transfer, so I can switch between cameras and send lighting cues in the other studio.

If you are in Cologne or Oulu, please come and see the show in person, but if you are elsewhere, you can catch it at taikabox.com

More details, show times and link to the livestream at: https://taikabox.com/mycelial-...

      @aikia

Sorry for the late reply. I'm quite busy these days. I'm using analogue DAHUA cameras 2MP with colour and night mode, manual or automatic setting for gain, exposure and shutter (this is an important feature, since you really don't want to have automatic exposure changes when you're trying to track something) and a zoom of 2.7 to 13mm which is great to be more flexible to place the cameras (I get as far as 25m from stage. I track using infrared (night mode) and reflective 3M wear on the dancer, and increase the shutter so I only see the reflection and anything else is black.

When I'm very far away I've used a cheap IR flood light to improve reflectance. It does not interfere with the video, nor the video with the camera.

The model of my camera is: DH-HAC-HFW2241TUP-Z-A

These are common bullet cameras, but If I was to get new ones I'd probably go for the PTZ (not sure if those have night mode). I use them in CVI mode and usually have a 25m coax running to the DVR.

The DVR model is also from DAHUA and I can connect 4 cameras to it and view them either in full res 1080 or a split screen with all cameras at the same time at 720.

      Model DH-XVR4104C-X1-BL.

I had some issues with my BM-shuttle not recognising the res/freq combination output of the DVR so I had to output at 720. But still fine.

      And that's it pretty much.

      Cheers

      Thank you DusX,

You are correct. I now have the 'shapes' actor working properly.

However, I am using a GLSL Shader to create the video I want to use as a transparent image. And I think you've also helped me there as well, as the shader does not have a transparent background. I will consult ChatGPT to see if it can help me add one.

      Hi,

I think the problem might be the way the memory number is passed. In the user input, the memory number must be an integer (1, 2, 3, etc.). Within the TCP Send actor, the P1:C parameter converts it to the hex value 01. I tested it this way and it worked fine.
      Best regards.
